I picked this link up from AMOC and thought the pdf had some very interesting stuff about the MY08 Vantage:

Finally, an iPod connection!

I must be weird, but I quite like the roof aerial.

Be nice if they come up with a sensible means of retrofitting iPod connectivity. One of my few bugbears with the car.

For parents who wish to seat their youngsters in the AMV8, note seat changes where fixed height seat becomes an option. Standard spec (adjustable seat) means no air bag switch on/off which I discovered when I took delivery of my 08 Roadster last Sept. It was one of the first 08 models of the production line and lack of air bag switch surprised both me and dealer and meant I had to re-order a Roadster with optional fixed height seats and air bag switch to allow my young kids to sit in the front seat.

I don't mind it either...but on the AMOC site it was the most talked about subject in 2006/07 smile

Seems like the price of deleting the external antenna is that you can no longer have the Ford sourced quick-clear heated front windscreen! What is the issue here? Is it impossible to integrate a reasonably FM antenna into the rear windscreen due to the heated element? Can they not integrate an antenna into the rear plastic bumper somehow?

An AM dealer I spoke to last week indicated that an iPod connector can be added to 2007MY cars (and earlier I assume). Not an official AM fit but done by a trusted third party in the dealer's workshop. I can find out more if you like.

Isn't it also a Ford patent and so not available to Aston now that they are owned by the Kuwaitis rather than the blue oval?

On the iPOD connection, I had a retro fit to my 07 model but it was one of those wireless devices (Belkin etc..) Nicely integrated through centre console with antennae in boot but no getting away from the fact it wasn't hard wired into the amp / front unit. Sound compromise which I lived with if only to avoid burning lots of CDs and listening to commercial radio. Having took delivery of a 08 model (albeit very short time before it was returned - see earlier post) the sound difference between the hard wired & wireless is considerable.

As SXO mentions, they plug into the aerial wiring one way or another (either piggy back off the cable or "broadcast" the signal to the radio. Complete rubbish in terms of sound quality, plus zero control of the iPod.

That and the key fob.

And now they've done the keyfob, no one likes the new "device".

Wonder how long it'll be before they all want the heated screen back...

Probably something to do with that but I'm not sure why Ford don't try to make some cash out of licencing their patent on this out to others as it's a pretty good feature IMO.

Aston still have access to the Ford bits as Ford still have their finger in the Aston pie, so if Aston wanted the screen, they could have it.

Further investigation reveals this is as feared - a (wired) back door into the radio receiver. Sorry to raise false hopes !

OK OK. Not yet. And one hopes that judging by the reaction to the "ECU" they'll rethink it again....

When do they start manufacture of 09 model year DB9's? Any other changes you are aware of?
