Vantage RS launched yesterday at Gaydon Design Centre
Discussion
No, seems like it does for Vantage what DBS does for the DB9 (but may be wrong), official details on the Aston website. They have somehow managed to shoehorn a V12 into the engine bay

There are a few stories on it here:
http://news.google.co.uk/news?tab=wn&hl=en&...
Oddly enough the Daily Mail article seems to have the most detail, saying that it will cost £180k, is expected to be available in 18 months and 100 a year will be built. However these details should be taken with a pinch of salt given that none of these facts are mentioned by AM, who are describing it as just a prototype until they get some customer feedback.

"With a power-to-weight ratio of over 375bhp per ton, the V12 Vantage RS concept is the fastest accelerating road car ever built by the company, capable of reaching 62mph (100km/h) from rest in 4.0 seconds and 100mph (160km/h) in just 8.5 seconds."
NOW THAT IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!! Where do I sign?

It's a Sad day for me, up until today there was not one car I desire more over my V8 Vantage...now there is!

I wonder if the reason they didn't use the less powerful DB9 and DBS variants of the V12 is because they would compromise the handling or even that they just wouldn't fit. Maybe the dry-sumped racing version was the only V12 they had lying around that would sit low enough?
The fact that it is more powerful than the rest of the range might not have been the main intention, just a result of that being the only current V12 engine that suited the car.

Maybe i'm just getting old, but isnt this car just another "DB9" ???
after all it's got the same:
Chassis
Engine
Gearbox
Suspension
Interior
Electrics / electronics
Brakes
Seats
sure it lacks a pair of rear seats but it's hardly a new model is it???
what AML need to do is get out the cheque book and develop a proper modern engine, not keep trawling through the parts bin for hand-me-downs!!
(bit like Lotus, where every new car is based upon, guess what?, thats right, a lightweight alluminium extruded chassis, surprise surprise!)
Still i guess the one, er, advantage (pun intended) is that at least we already know what the "RS" should cost, say about £105k, same as a DB9......

Not really:
Chassis - VH platform, but AMV8 dimensions not DB9. Lightweight panels.
Engine - V12 for sure, but dry-sumped and reworked.
Gearbox - maybe (manual)
Suspension - same as AMV8 (I think).
Interior - similar to DBS (and yes, not nice)
Electrics / electronics - same (probably)
Brakes - ceramic as in DBS.
Seats - DBS again.
And I doubt you'll get change from 150, let alone 105.

Absolutely cack wheels, doesn't look like their alligned properly and the suspension job looks like it was done by a fully sick yob and a hacksaw.
Rather than this RS nonsense, how about this
(Fake Press Release):
Aston Martin announces a new Vantage for the sporting Gentleman. The V12 Vantage shits on the opposition (cue picture of AMG, M cars being shot up by Spitfires or something suitably rubbish and nostalgic) and is a proper riot etc etc
Actually that'd be rubbish but anything will do so long as its better than this halfarsed squirmy chavchariot.
