Because they are the last (and best) of the proper Astons. Built-by-hand. British. Brutal. Brilliant.

I think isnstead of saying Power, Beauty, Soul. They should say Brutal, British, Brilliant.

True, almost (the panels were mainly hydroformed and then finished by hand. The V8's were rolled and formed by hand).

Vanquish engines basically came out of a crate delivered from Germany. 93-2000 cars had engines handbuilt from scratch by craftsmen in brown overcoats in metal bashing rooms in Newport Pagnell and each one's name is engraved on the cylinder head cover of each car. While Vanquishes are magnificent, Vantages are something else.

was the 5,340cc V8 designed by Aston? I thought originally it came from a division of GM. Still, a great sounding engine and the Vantage epitomises what Astons should be (apart from unreliability etc)

Yes, by a guy called Tadek Marek in the mid 1960s. Quite advanced too - alloy block, fuel injected. AM borrowed a Chevy engine to compare it to.

Good knowledge, I remember now.

Such a great noise from that engine.
