TopGear yesterday he drives the DBS and shows it to be slower than the Vanquish S, then The Stig puts it round the testcourse in 1:23.93 over 3 secs quicker than the Vanquish.

Big difference between a drag race and a race around a track.

When has Clarkson ever agreed with himself once the film clip has been shown? The guy never stands by what he says else no manufacturer would lend the brute their new models once he rubbishes them.
Still its one of the best programmes on the box.
I was expecting the DBS to be going round Nurburgring, TG had tested it there back in August.

I'd be interested to know which DBS Aston Martin gave him. The 'press issue' DBS used in Evo car of the year was apparently rubbish compared to one they tried when they got back, which apparently was customer spec.

Evo kept saying how the wet weather handling of their DBS was terrible and that it had no steering feel but Top Gear obviously thought different. Clarkson said he liked the steering and the car sesemed good on the wet track

It was one of the almost-production press/demonstrator cars (same one they had at MPH07 this year).

True - both registered at the same time (differ by one letter) in September. The green one that Clarkson drove was the one at MPH07.
