0-60 in less than 5 seconds and top speed of 190ish mph.

Damn - that DB9 driver must have been gutted after thinking that he'd spent £100k just in order to get a car that was faster than a Cossie, and then finding out that he was wrong (assuming he was actually trying, and that the Cossie wasn't tuned to within an inch of it's life). What a shame there are no more merits to the car than it's ability to floor it out of Birmingham as fast as possible frown

You're probably better off posting this over in the ford forum or better still some chav forum - you will get a better response there...

Some people would argue that hitting 190mph to get out of Birmingham as quickly as possible is suffient in itself.

What a response....and what else would you expect.

Some people miss the point by such a margin it makes me die.

I've got some strange cars, one of which is a Manx beach buggy.....but guess what.....it's so slow and uncomfortable 50 quids worth of nissan micra would run circles round it..

Thanks nothin'. A mate of mine has got a 2CV. He regualrlt gets beaten off the lights my a Manx beach buggy. And e's just had it restored. £6k, and a Manx buggy will outdrag it

Ahh, but have you tried your Manx buggy against a DB9 across a sand dune? Reckon you might have the DB9 beat...

P.s. Had a quick look at your list of cars - you are a man of some considerable taste!

Sounds like seriously irresponsible behaviour on both sides to me. What exactly is either of them trying to prove? And does it matter? Speed on city roads tends to vary inversely to the brain size of the driver, rather than directly to the cost of his car. Are you with me?

Golly, that's quite a story.

I remember when a bicycle overtook me in my Vanquish on the inside lane in London once. I nearly sold the thing after that - it was an awful day. The bike can't have been worth more than £50 and the Vanquish was loads of money. I mean, what's the point?

And I dare say a F1 car would be faster than both, but I know where I would rather be on a long haul down the M42... wink

I think as merits go its ability to escape Birmingham would be quite a important one

Bet the sierra wasn't standard. My mate race's an Escort WRC in the Dunlop saloon series and it puts out 580bhp does 0-60 in 3.5seconds -Thats considered only fairly powerful. So that sierra could be packing anything up to 850 bhp under the bonnet

Think this vid will explain:

Amazing what kicking a pig skin around a field will get you,

or was it Peter Stringfellow at the wheel?

GREEN was never a particularly good colour.
