This is terrible; half the charm of the AM brand is the handbuilt in UK approach, the poor reliability image and non-class leading performance are set aside for cars so beautiful, handbuilt and the UK heritage. I pay more for my saville row suit, than I would for one from Hong Kong.
I know many non-Brits (yanks, french, ruskies, arabs etc) who love AM for the whole UK/007 thing; will AM still be as desirable in London or California if they are being built in Poland or Korea? Similarly would you even consider a 911 being shipped out of a Romanian factory/ or a ferrari out of China??
If David Richards has to save money then outsource certain funtions/ bits of the car, so that the whole can still be built/assembled in the UK (aka Bentley and Rolls etc). I certainly wouldnt outsource one model, such as the Rapide, - automatically downgrades the model compared to the others; and unless they are willing to pass on cost savings to the consumer well dont expect sales to be unaffected.
