Anyone got any experience of installing stone chip protection films on their Aston?

Just about to have my badly chipped front end resprayed after 10,000 miles (aargh!!) and don't want to have to do the same in another 11 months.

Comments appreciated.

Worthwhile and effective although it's sod's law that you'll still get chips 2 inches beyond wherever you decide to have it fitted. Had the front of my V8, plus rear arches protected from new and note that there are small indentations (invisible, but you can feel them) from stones which would otherwise have chipped the paint.

Just a preference but I elected not to have the hood done as you see a horizontal line across it which detracts from the appearance.

At least having had the respray you know exactly where the chips occur.

Not sure if you visit the AMOC site, but there are quite a few good threads on the topic, along with quite a few images.

Had my 997 GT3 done with ventureshield. Front end, headlights, wing mirrors were all covered. Have to say it works and protects the paintwork very well. Just make sure the paintwork is in pristine condition before the shield is applied. I had my car detailed 1st then shild applied the next day.

I had the sills done on my Vanquish - right after they were resprayed. It's probably the only area I would have Armorfend or any of the other films. I had a yellow Lambo and had the full kit (bonnet, leading edges, sills, backs of mirrors etd) - I didn't like it at all.

As noted above, you do see the film on the horizontal surfaces and applying wax feels a waste of time....

It costs a fair bit to have done, a fair bit to have removed and it's sort of irritating to see. Cost of a paint blow over on a couple of panels?

Sums it up well, the chips are really bad on mine, but I was thinking that the film looks rubbish too, so I am living with blow over every time I am really annoyed with the chips.

Have you tried Langka? http://www.langka.com

This works between sprays for chips....

hmmm...looks interesting, although the front of mine has about 3000 small chips on it so would take some time to do all this! (I blame the loose surface on many French/Spanish payages)
