How many Pistonhead Astons went to Le Mans this year??

I only saw a few:
2 vanquish- grey and black
2 Vantage (twin supercharge model reg number 1 AM and T2VEV)
1 V8 (our friends)
1 DB6 Volante and a
DB5 race car (though I wasnt familiar with the car).

Did anyone else see any more???

I went in my racing green DB7 Vantage with a mate driving a black special edition DB7 vantage. We were staying at the Airtrack campsite and spent most of the time at Arnage corner.
Managed to get some great vid on the payage on the way to Le Mans. DB7's doing 170+ , an awsome sound !

Heard a snifter of a rumour the other day that Aston are aiming to compete at Le Mans next year...

I can confirm that rumour. I went to Newport Pagnel a few weeks ago and the guys tell me it's a distinct possibility. Remember 2009 is the 50th anniversary of the DBR1 winning. I think they might return a few years before that and do a Bentley !
I asked if they would run a car in the GT class or full LM. If they do, it would definatley be the full LM class (remember the fantastic AMR1 !)

Cant say just at the moment....but suffice to say things going on in background. Drivers all in place and car exists.....

Whether it ever gets off the ground is another thing. British sportcar firms in heaps of doo dah at moment, but then Ford are in good health, or are they?!

From a inside view....I would say there is as much chance of astons landing on the moon that competing at le mans in the near future...I think you will find that keeping afloat is more of an issue!! (even with ford backing!!)

I doubt there is a factory entry -- a privateers is certainly a possibility

st170,

shadytree was told it was a possibility at the factory. At the moment it seems it is only a posibility.. but not one anyone here can discount.

IMHO I do not see any reason to poo poo the idea of AM entering LM. As has already been said ala Bentley, who were sub'ed by VAG as a marketing ploy. AM have Ford and it makes perfect sense for them to raise the profile of one of their flagship subsideries(sp?), does it not .
I for one would welcome any British based manufacturer to enter, I even shouted on the 'Audi Coupe' this year once the Tivs had gone .
