Months driving a Porsche 911 = 8
Times let out in traffic = 0

Days driving an Aston Martin = 2
Times let out in traffic = 2

'Scientific' proof that folks love an Aston and are ambivalent (at best) about Porsche.

LOL - they sure do love them...Ive lost count of the number of times Ive been let out, given the thumbs up (even by traffic cops on 2 occasions!) been photographed, chatted up etc ...quite a lot the time the outside lane clears in front of you with drivers winding down their windows and pulling over...of course you have to oblige wink

have you pulled fuse 22 yet?

Very interesting. Exactly my experience too. Never felt 'the love' in any of my Porsches (although no antagonism either) although very suprised indeed to find I'm getting the same megga positive vibes in my Fezza - which I didn't expect - and have to say that, as with the Aston - it makes every journey that more special - and easier!

Thought it was about time I stopped lurking and contributed for the first time!

Had the V8V for a couple of weeks now, coming straight from a 360.
Not being the biggest poser I sometimes got a bit embarrased by the attention in the Fezza, but the reaction to the Aston is different in one welcome sense...

Girls think you are cool in the Aston!

Hi everyone btw

Just don't ever let them see your user name on here biggrin

Welcome to the club!

I also have had similar experiences. Much less in your face attention, but everyone (absolutely everyone) loves the car.

They should make more of it - since it is for the first time in sports cars probably since the E-Type Jag that it is actually true!

Hi by the way!

I found this when I had the Vanquish - people absolutely love them. I'd literally see people mouth 'ooh, ahhh, loook, an Astooooooooon Maaaaaaaaaartin.....'

Very different in the Bentley - people HAVE to over take it, HAVE to get past it at ANY cost.

I'm told that you can feel the hate in a Rolls Royce - not sure if that's true.

Fuse 22 is taken care of by a dealer fitted bypass switch!

Someone else wrote about "feeling the love". That's precisely it. In a 911 you get people pulling over to let you overtake eventually but many times it would take a while (and sometimes you end up having to pass on the left if they are a committed 'none-shall-pass type') I was out in the Vantage and it felt a bit biblical - the traffic just parted to let me through. No mess, no fuss.

This weekend will be my first full weekend out and about in it so if you see a silver V8 in 'norf lahndahn' driven by a man with a ridiculous grin - wave - that'll be me.

Only downside - bloody hell but it's thirsty!! I half filled it with 97 unleaded - £45!!!! For half a tank - better not retire just yet!

Try a Range Rover!! Did you know that petrol pumps refuse to deliver more than 100 litres of fuel? So it's £100 to 'nearly' fill it! Very green of me.

Enjoy the car this coming weekend - I think it's an incredibly attractive car. Be safe in it too.

So what kind of mpg are people getting if driving locally or how many miles on a full tank?. Interested to know.

We had this debate about mpgs on the Porsche forums. If driven in strict 1-2-4-6, change up every opportunity, watch for lights, coast where appropriate and so on, I could get mid 20mpg out of a 997C2S. But you know, that rubbish. It's like having a shower wearing a raincoat. Spank it and stuff the fuel consumption! I did have one drive, twisties, A & B roads where I was getting 12-13mpg.

I have not had the courage to switch on the instant fuel meter yet!

Well done that man! Excellent. Only got mine down to 15mpg over period of ownership. Oh the shame of it. Mind you I got it down to 6mpg at a track day once!!

If you have a word with the teller they can address that for you.

130 litres gives you both cramp and deep poverty. Especially when the car gives 13mpg or so at best.

God bless Italian V12s.
