Joined AMOC yesterday (own a V8 Vantage), and posted a link to an architect's site which had some pictures of the new Visitor Experience Centre at AML Gaydon, but the post was removed, as well as a replacement thread I posted.

I thought this would be of interest - the architect was in the wrong for sure for posting them (I've heard no official plans), but surely as the pictures were on a public website, thet are of interest???

Lucky I saved them....

The pictures have now been removed from the website - am I OK to still have these on my diskdrive?

The car rocks (the NOISEwoohoo), but the club seems a little 'stuffy' - are they run by Aston themselves? All the other marque clubs I've belonged to (I get bored of toys quickly) thrive on gossip.

The AMOC website is run by the club and is on the conservative end when it comes to censorship, imho. Which is why I enjoy this site, even though the Aston I own is older ('64 DB5). Must say that I have had a few test drives in all of the current line of Astons and it is very tempting to trade in the old for the new, despite appreciation of the old.

Don't - you'll regret it badly. Wait and buy a new one to add to the stable!

On the pictures - perhaps Aston asked for them to be taken down?

Why the big secret - I'd love to go to the new centre - the pictures look great. Very moody atmosphere and a chance to see the new stuff. I've done the tour, but this centre looks good fun.

Hope they make an official announcement soon.

Am I allowed to post pictures on here? Is there someone at Aston Martin I can contact to ask? I mailed the architect, but no reply yet. If anyone has a name to try (I guess Customer Service Manager or something?), please let me know.

No idea mate - just hypothesising...

Ping a mail to the mods on the AMOC site first. May have been some other reason behind it.

The AMOC is a bit like the Reform Club. Maybe you weren't wearing a tie.

I do hope that Aston never gets to the point where an owner can't arrange a factory tour.

V8gaydon,

I believe that the webmaster of the AMOC site sent you an email - have you not received it?

I know what you mean and I agree. I am an architect as it happens, and know from personal experience no one gets up themselves faster. Give me a nice Lutyens house any day.

The AMOC site is extremely conservative - they may just not understand you were just a PHder trying to help then out. The AMOC reaction is swift punch and backed by their belief they represent the brand to the world. Fair enough. It help if you know what a Johnson Rod is and if you use language such as 'Motor Car' rolleyes

But it is their site for their club and their view of the world teacher, so if you get smacked down don't stress. It's just the AMOC way biglaugh

As an AMOC mod, I can't say that I recognise that view of the site.

It is perhaps a more conservative place than many on t'internet. The membership is generally conservative with a small "c" (and one could hazzard a guess at a big "C" too). Some of the caution is that the club has been threatened with legal action in the past, not something that any club (or its members) wishes to have to defend. However, it is generally a happy, friendly place populated by nice and knowledgable contributors (albeit they are a bit intolerant of people who mouth off).

Certainly, the AMOC mods do try always to explain why any action has been taken (as the OP can, I believe attest) and guide the poster as to how to avoid such conflicts in the future.

Dr Jock, as always, you make perfect sense.....

Anyway, the AMOC Forum starts from the Aston Martin end of things and not only the usual "connected community" end; this is imho why there is a not unreasonable amount of attention to a certain etiquette. This is automatic, not imposed, and one really has to challenge some basic rules of conduct in order to have their wings clipped.

On the subject matter, it does not necessarily follow that everyone is aware of what might constitute sensitive data to the owner of said info, hence the removal of the topic. I've found AMOC's Webby most accomodating and cooperative when such issues arise.

That leads us back to you Dr Jock....

Been a while since I checked this thread.

To set the record straight, I did receive a PM from the mod on the AMOC site (after posting on here). It certainly seems the architect published something that should not have been in the public domain, as it was removed without anyone seeing it.

I thought the Club and it's members would have a valid interest in seeing the proposals for the new Experience Centre. I for one can't wait to visit. I was somewhat taken aback to find my posts deleted.

I suppose in this US influenced litigation happy world that we live in web site forums and chat groups have to be very quick in deleting stuff that my be infringe anything. I agree it's a pity but I'm sure the AMOC did it for a reason. Rich...
