I seem to be the only person who has noticed - since the DB7, all Astons have basically been the same design. It's like they can only afford one new design every 20 years, and they just keep tweaking it.

And they all look completely girly, whereas pre DB7 all Astons were proper chestwig chariots.

Anyway can someone please back me up - all Astons since the DB7 look like the DB7, FACT.

LOL - who cares ? - I love my "girly" Aston ...its such a pretty car and I much prefer to have a regular sack, back and crack wax than to look like an 80's medallion man, it dosent suit my image you see wink

Hmm... you sound like my metros3xual mate, Gay Phil. I am more of a skol-drinking wife-beating 70s throwback.

Anyway the point is that no one seems to have noticed that they all look the same - only Rod Rammage can see clearly that Aston designers are a lazy shower.

Did the designer roll into the boss's office with a drawing of the Vantage, and the boss go "Well done Jennings, that design is fresh and original and in no way like the car that we are making at present"?

Hmm?

Makes me so mad rage

yep totally agree, they all look exactly the same. Positively boring and really femenine, nothing like the 70's muscle cars they used to be.

yikes Oh my god !! I've spend 90k on a girly car cry

Please help me !!

Unlike the Porsche 996 which you yearn after?

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

or maybe the XJ you you would also like which is *really* cutting edge in its design:

laugh Not at all. Rod's on the horns of a dilemma F355spider. 996 isn't ideal, but is reliable and seats 4. XJR8 rocks, only wifey won't get in it. Also considering an Allroad...

Anyway F355spider, you stalker, none of this takes away from the fact that... what I said before. shoot

Looks like you've made your mind up, so no point in conversing with you. But if you do put the DB7/ DB7 Zagato/vanquish/DB9/V8 Vantage alongside, you'll soon see the differences. A bit like telling the difference between the Vantage/ V8 Coupe of the late 90s. Or the DBS/ DBS V8. Or the DB4/4 GT/5/6. Or the DB2/ DB 2/4, DB 2/4 Mk2, DB MkIII.

'Twas alwasy thus?

Oh, and one tip: just because a car has four deats, dont think of it as a four seater. You'd be hard pushed to fit anyone in the back of a 996. Or a DB7. Or and XK8.

Furry muff Willamp, I spose you're right about previous genereation Astons. Just weird no one comments on it, s'all.

I note what you say about the 996. I only have one nipper (that I own up to wink), and it's 5yo. If I underfeed it to keep it small I may be able to run a 996 for another 5 years.biggrin

But note - they XJR is on my list - the saloon, not the XKR coupe. The running costs of the coupe scares me .eek

Yes, the body shape is similar, but the differences really do show, and they all have different purposes, V8 Vantage - the smaller sportier one, the Vanquish - The super fast yet luxurious one, The DB9 - the slightly less expensive (than vanquish new), more sporty, yet still luxurious one, and they're all so sexy, so who cares? Thats my take on it anyway.

A lad at our work has a DB7 for his work snotter, I quite like the evolution style of design, the DB9 looks awesome. Good enough for the 911....

Actually I disagree - I can tell a DB9 from a V8 and a Vanquish, ipso facto you're wrong... wink
