Excellent!
Did you notice anything different about the Vantage that was with it?
No not really, it was behind me in the queue so I couldn't really see it to be fair.Did you notice anything different about the Vantage that was with it?
I think they were regulars because the customs bloke waved them through and the DBS driver revved the engine for him specially.
just read the post on the AMV8 facelift. those were the same cars as in the pictures. the plates were the same. Wish I'd walked through the train now to get a better look.

Im going to have to fight *really* *really* hard against myself not to do something *really* stupid over this car!
One's fiancee is about to become one's wife and whilst doing really stupid things involving sums of cash and motor cars might have been tolerated whilst I was still under a certain definition of "single", I have been given my orders that such stupidity will not be tolerated once Im married.
Im going to have to be crafty

Just do what I did and buy it a week before the wedding because it will look good in the wedding photo's!
That angle sort of worked, although remember they never forget!!
Unfortunately we are doing horse and carriage for the wedding not so much 520 horsepower on show as...1 horsepower. That angle sort of worked, although remember they never forget!!

I see little more than a DB9 that's had a trip to the lads at MaxPower. A travesty of the heritage of the marque. Can you imagine if Ferrari stuck a bodykit on a 430, chipped the engine and called it the new Enzo? No, me neither. Time they got a grip with their heritage; take a look at a Vanquish, a V600 or an Xpack V8 or talk to any of the guys who handbuilt those cars. Is that really the best they can manage?

On the same token the F430 visually seems to be nothing more than a tarted up F360, it seems most manfacturers are being idle in terms of styling - cue Porsche where the latest model looks identical to the last. It seems Aston has taking a similar route with the DBS. At first the DBS didn't really appeal to me, I equally thought its nothing more than just a DB9 in drag. I must say not however its really began to grow on me. You've also got to remember that this fits between the DB9 and DBR9 so understandably styling wise its going to be visually similar to the car its based on - the DB9.

I can't see them calling it that either, mainly because they slap a stripe on them from front to back and call them Stradale's Merc call them AMG's
Lambo call them Superleggeras
Porsche call them RS's
BMW call them M's
Audi call them RS's
And so on and so on......
However, Aston do it and all the comments begin
Just remember, it was a car born out of interest and not a car released as a new model to be bought as such. If nobody had an interest, it wouldn't have been made, simple.
Btw, it's not a bodykit, they are all panels.
Photos do it no justice at all !!

The DB9 is a superb car, the V8 is also highly regarded - and rightly so. My only beef is that for those who are not limited by any budget when choosing a car and who would like to own the flagship Aston Martin product, the DBS just isn't quite it. Yes it looks nice, yup it'll be quick - but it doesn't have the magic that the Vanquish had. I might be a bit biased having owned a Vanquish for a few years - however I do think it had something special about it.
I was nattering to a mate recently about the 2nd hand values of Vanqui (?!) and I am tempted to buy another but with a manual box conversion.
Agree - the DBS isn't an ‘aspirational’ car. I don't think you'll find kids gazing into garage showrooms with their noses pressed against the glass holding their willies; unlike the days of the V8s and S/C Vantages. How many boys will look at the DBS and dream of owning one in the future?
Oh look, a DB9. Oh, it's a DBS. Maybe not. Could be.
