depends on the dealer...I found the labour rates vary from £115 to £145 ph + vat....10K service can be £700-900 then just tyres/brakes etc...my rears lasted 16K, fronts have 5k left in them...rear pads have been replaced too, fronts maybe another 3K miles ...set of pads fitted at dealer is about £300, tyres about £270 ea on the rear.

Your main real cost will be depreciation and fuel.

yup - completely agree - I bought a year old one with 6K miles on it as I do 20K miles a year...so fully expecting to lose £1K a month over the next 2 years ...but par for the course on any car of this value unless you get in early and only keep it 6 months etc frown

Wow - that's a real world milage..

When Aston decided to take on the 911 - I had hoped that AM owners would actually start using them 'everday' - like 911 owners seem to.

But looking at the AM V8's in the classifieds - seems to show many just don't do this..

Seems a bloody waste to me.

Have fun in yours.. biggrin

yep ..I try to use other cars too to keep the mileage down!

..was funny at my last service in the dealer as I asked the technician what the normal oil consumption was as Ive used 4L in the last 10K miles ...they couldnt comment as the other cars they get in just come in for yearly services having done 3-6K miles and have never had a top up wink

I did 11,000 between services and did not have to top up at all, of all the cars I have ever owned the Aston has used the least oil.

I look at depreciation as a per mile cost, so if you loose £15,000 on a car but only have done 5000 miles then that is £3 per mile, but if you loose £20,000 on a similar car but have done 15,000 miles then it is £1.33 per mile, that is my excuse for using her as much as I like!

exactly my thinking ...the more you use it, the cheaper it gets and the more enjoyment you have smile

when chatting to the sales guy at my local dealer, he said he had some customers who bought and ran like a £30K German saloon and kept the AM for weekends "to save mileage/depreciation etc" ..whe he worked out what they were losing in running costs/depreciation on the 2nd car, it worked out much cheaper to just use the AM every day...so thats my logic - I may as well be commuting/sat in my favourite car every day rather than get a runaround too and only get in the V8 for a couple of hours at a weekend wink

I also like your logic, although I must admit to a Diesel German for everyday, my clients already think I am too expensive without rubbing their noses in it every day, and 25,000 miles per year business, plus 12,000 private would really take the, "use it every day" logic to it's limit!

smile ....completely understand...when I goto clients I either hide the car or go on the train ! ..and yeah I agree 37K a year is a bit much on any car ..I wouldnt want to do that in any single car either....thats what I do per year total and split it across 2 other cars ...the V8 will do 15-20K, Elise 7-10K (mostly pleasure) and Saggy 6K pleasure(GF uses it daily)

the 2nd car argument really comes into play when you have these people commuting mostly by train, running a saloon and the V8, doing 3K in the V8 and 10K in the saloon...I just dont understand (unless you have kids etc) how you can justify running the 2nd car...you re going to suffer huge depreciation on the AM anyway even at 3K per year so you may as well use it !
