Vantage water leak when boot lifted
Discussion
Isn't it great ? Every morning I go to put the brief case in the boot and have been developing a swift semi-open, chuck it in and close quickly before the cascade begins.
I find it almost as annoying as my XKR whenever I have to open the window to show my ID to get into the parking garage. If it is raining then the roof angle and lack of a continuous channel means that the water pours directly into the middle of the drivers seat, soaking the crotch area with obvious embarrassing implications.

Lift the tailgate, take a look from the underside at the 2 small holes on either side of the trim pannel. These are the drain holes for the water channel that sits round the rear window, take a thin pointy thing (screwdriver / pencil etc) and check that they are not blocked, they tend to quickly block, especially if car is parked under trees. Even with them fully flowing however there will still be a tendancy for the water channel to empty into the boot where the tailgate "hips" in as it meet the rear window. Just another of the Astons, er, induvidual charms sir!
Does it matter the speed/extent that one opens it? On my db9, if one opens the boot slowly or partially then water flows off the forward edge of the bootlid into the boot. However, if one opens it fully and with reasonable speed, the water then falls off the forward (now bottom) edge of the boot onto the rear window and drains away safely.
I think its just basically the shape. Where the window ends the tailgate flares out and so any water sitting on the paintwork just runs forward, misses each side of the glass and just drops straight into the boot.
As has been said, a design feature. Funnily enough, when they tested it inside the factory it wasn't raining.
