AMV8 Tracker System
Discussion
I have it, it's rubbish.
The main problem (other than the numerous false alerts) is the total absence of security when they call you.
Example:-
AM Tracking - Hello Whoami, we have received an alert on your car.
Whoami - no the car is fine.
AM Tracking - Okay, we'll just cancel that alert then. Goodbye.
Useless
They never check your PIN code, postcode or anything else.
Also, they only seem to call one number, ie if they can't get you on your mobile, they just leave a message.
The "credit card" sized ID card isn't.
It's a complete pain as it's too big to fit in your wallet.
So, on a word, crap.

I'm obviously more easily pleased. Nipped out quickly last weekend and left the gadget behind. Called me on mobile which I'd also left behind, then on my house phone as I arrived back after 3 minutes. Established identity via various questions and then reset my PIN, which I had forgotten.
No hassle, seemed to work fine as a means of checking the car was ok. Sure you can get Tracker or Cobra more cheaply, but I think the AM Eurowatch system is supposed to be better in terms of coverage. In any case you need one of them as the Ins co's won't touch you without.
Agree the gadget is creidt card shaped, but not credit card thickness, and certainly not credit card weight. But it does still fit in your pocket without looking like a colostomy bag.

I was told the system is standard now, i.e. you can not have a tracker fitted by the dealership?
Either way as long as it satisfies the insurance company!
The credit/cigarette packet sized fob can be thrown away if you programme your Bluetooth mobile phone to replace it, that’s what I’ll be doing as I have enough to carry around as it is, and always have my mobile on me anyway.

Compatable multi-capable bluetooth devices are as follows:-
Nokia - N95, E70, E60, E61, 8800 Scirocco, 6233i, 6131
Are you sure about the N95 Mark? Nokia - N95, E70, E60, E61, 8800 Scirocco, 6233i, 6131
Last I heard was that none of the 'N' series phones connected via Bluetooth. I spent a disproportionate time on the Nokia boards trying to get answers and after emailing Nokia directly got the response, after 3 weeks, that Nokia 'DO NOT check the compatibility of their phones with ANY third party equipment'. This includes the Motorola kit supplied in Aston Martin which I subsequently discovered whilst trying, and failing, to connect an N80.

Have to agree with David on this one. Always found The AM system responsive and all security questions covered on their incoming call when forgetting the card. Previously had the NavTrak ADR system on an M3 for four years and can vouch for that system also although, despite the card being significantly thinner in design, the battery life was less than satisfactory. No hassle, seemed to work fine as a means of checking the car was ok. No, you're not.The system just seems to be working for you as intended.
Interestingly, the MD of Eurowatch seems to agree that the system is rather less acceptable.
He has now implemented changes to the way their operators respond to alerts. I am also informed that some of their staff have now left the building.
We'll see.

It does work with an N95, I use my mobi instead of the tag. You have to ring Eurowatch from your car and they walk through the bluetooth connection process. It is an interactive process, they have to send commands to your vehicle's tracking system. The only phone info they require is your bluetooth name, (case sensitive).

I still can't understand why Nokia don't standardise the Bluetooth in all of their phones. Even just looking at the list above it shows that in the 'N' range only one phone connects. Problems such as these ultimately result in a loss of customers.

*CQ* - I think you might be at cross purposes.
I think the other guys are talking about disarming the tracker system with your phone (so you don't need the card gadget).
I do not believe any N series phone works with the hands free kit.
LOL, yes, I see your point. Trouble is, anyone else less informed reading this forum who buy an N95 and pair it with the AM tracker will now need phone #2 to make calls as the N95 won't BT connect.....I know the AM card is thick but it's 'slightly' smaller than an N95. Very true.Oh to have a phone that works with the bluetooth kit AND can be used to disarm the tracker...one day
I have a Nokia 6300 which pairs well with the integrated Bluetooth 'phone and also disarms the tracker - no more 'bulky credit card' for me
To enable the pairing with the tracker I called Eurowatch from the car and 5 minutes later, voila Great service. (you just have to tell them the make/model of 'phone and it's Bluetooth name - you will probably need to change this from the factory default before calling Eurowatch)

With Roadster deleivery soon, I sold my AMV8 this week to a friend and called Eurowatch to advise new owner details and contact number etc..
Leaving aside functionality of the Eurowatch tracker (I haven't had many problems - just the odd disconnect raising a false alarm) I tend to agree with the comments raised by whoami over security. When I called I was not asked to authenticate myself in any shape or form. They simply asked for my vehicle registration and new mobile phone contact should the alarm activate. My PIN, account number or current mobile phone contact appeared irrelevant. I could have been anyone calling. Not sure my experience would support the comment that a revised operation over customer authentication is now live.
Very worrying
