Att: Fuse 22 folks - simple trick to get more/better noise!
Discussion
I noticed this the other day by accident, and I'm sure others have too. As we all know fuse 22 being pulled does a great job of releasing lots of extra noise, but the cabin of the coupe is so well dampened that all that filters through as long as the windows are up is a pretty muffled soundtrack, while everyone else outside gets the benefit.
But if you simply remove the rear parcel shelf../ my word, what a revelation! I didn't expect such a tremendous difference at all. Not only is it louder, but the detail suddenly comes pouring into the cabin... all the pops and burbles, and that hard edged note that you get in the higher revs under acceleration. Give it a try! As with Fuse 22, the parcel shelf is now permanently removed and stowed in its little slot on my car!

Isnt this all going a bit MaxPower (removing fuses, removing parcel shelves ...)? You're driving an Aston not an Impreza. Whats next? Removing the far too comfy leather seats and replacing with some nice plastic mould jobbies from Halfords?
just my 2p
We're talking about a 2 seat Aston sportscar, not a GT. And one that sounds awesome. It deserves to be heard to its full potential.just my 2p
I'll be keeping the seats as they are though. And the rest of it for that matter.
Incidentally, removing the parcel shelf has a "secondary" benefit in that you can get more in the boot

Yup! This isn't about making the car louder, it's plenty loud enough with or without the fuse removed... it's about allowing much more of the detail of that sound into the cabin for the driver to enjoy. Otherwise, everyone outside the car hears it all while you sit cocooned inside the very well dampened cabin, missing out...
