I wonder how many V8 owners who removed their fuse 22 have subsequently refitted it?

I ask that because in the search to make the OEM sound a little better , I (and lots of others) have in the past fitted aftermarket exhausts to M3's and Maserati's etc to get that 4000 rpm ++ sound just right. However most systems also create noise all the way UP to 4000 as well, meaning you are stuck with the noise even when you dont want it (like turning up to collect the kids from school (big frowns). I've done this twice now and ended up taking the exhaust off and refitting the oem!

Seems to me the Aston idea is spot on as designed.....so anyone admit to replacing the fuse.

I test drove my car with it remove and left it like that smile ...its not particularly noisy or obnoxious at low revs anyway and not intrusive in the car with the windows done up....certainly not as loud as my sagaris or even Lotus Elise (which has aftermarket exhaust)

Only when I had my 1,000 mile service then straight out.......

I heard the dealers offer alternative for fuse 22. Anyone had that done and if so did it work...

I take it out only when I want to be loud - I drive around central London most of the time so it's not too good there, esp late at night.

No, the fuse stays in the ash tray. But you really don't want to pick the kids up from school in a V8 Vantage, as one will have to go in the boot.

I put mine back in as the neighbors were getting annoyed. Still get the great soundtrack because once away from the quite zone I let it rip.

You mean the "boominess" you get at about 3k rpm when cruising and the harsh aggressive low down noise? Generally speaking its because the exhaust rather than being a special custom made product is actually £100 worth of metal made to fit a variety of mass market designs. Properly designed "extra" exhaust systems dont do that and you can enjoy them below 3k rpm, on a light throttle and though they sound a little extra fruity, they dont demand an instant asbo. The prices Tubi and Quicksilver charge for the mass produced stuff they turn out really are insulting!

But ho hum, what do I know?

I can't speak for Tubi, but Quicksilver exhausts are certainly not 'mass produced'
