First car I've wanted more as a roadster than a coupe

And another quick one for you all.

I have to say, having seen plenty of photos of the car I was expecting it to be nice, but when i saw it in the flesh I have to say it looked so much better, and when he drove off, WOW.

Congrats Tony, I saw Jason Plato's 5th gear test last week, even in that horrible yellow the car looked absolutely stunning & without the roof the sound will be nearly as good as a GT3 biggrin

Must arrange a mini hoon when I dust down my passport and venture past you and into darkest Norfolk to pick her up. Top down, sound of GT3 dissappearing into distance and V8 blare over my shoulder - heaven!

Maybe you can get another EVO group test together, best current sports coupe vs best sports cabs (at given price point), lets see cab versions of AMV8, 997S with X-51, & M6 vs 997GT3, Audi R8 & the new Maserati coupe (or new Corvette!?)? We could provide two out of six, in return for lunch at the Pheasant, followed by a chance to drive the others!
Mid summer roof down, the AMV8 could be the winner!!!

The thought had occured!! In pure ability alone terms the 997 would win the cab. contest I reckon. The AM is just TOO much money. £98,500 for heavens sake! And I've gone for manual with sensible - ie not over the top - spec. In fact probably on ability alone the latest BoxsterS at £45-50k is probably a 'better' more practical car! Just got back from Germany where I spoke to TTP about a BoxsterS conversion they do. £20k gets you a new 3.8S lump - taken out to 4.1 and giving 420bhp - dropped in along with a few other goodies. All with warranty. V.v tempting!

The Mrs has a BoxsterS (986) & I agree, great car great value, but I don't really like the modified stuff, depreciates like a stone & IMO they aren't engineered any where near as well as the original Porksters! The latest S with 295 horses is plenty fast enough.

but......... it isn't an ASTON.

A few more weeks & you will be part of the Celebrity set.

Aston Roadster...thumbup you lucky devil.

Saw a pale blue one on the M6 the other day - even in that pansy colour (s2000 in-joke tongue out) it looked great.

Dammit - I was saving up for a 2nd hand coupe...
