Couple of Questions .... I Need One!
Discussion
I have been hankering over a V8 Vantage now for quite a while and I am seriously thinking about taking the plunge because if I don't do it now I won't be able to for a while! I have some questions ....
1. Anyone got any opinions about the 'Toro' red when it comes to resale?
2. Anyone purchased a UK spec import? Interesting really as it seems they go from the UK and then back again??
From a personal view, I love the colour and the 'import' does not worry me. However, I am probably going to keep the car 6-9 moonths so I need to keep half an eye on resale values as I don't want to end up being stuck with it when it comes to move on.
3. Finally, what are the 'must have' options for resale, again I have my own list but want to ensure I don't miss anything.
Thanks!

1) Allegedly so (dealers etc), but I'm not sure. 2. Anyone purchased a UK spec import? Interesting really as it seems they go from the UK and then back again??

Unless you go totally outlandish (Toro isn't), it will probably mean it simply takes longer to sell (or you knock a bit off to sell quickly).
Call a couple of dealers and ask for a ball park offer price (them to buy off you) for 2 identical cars, one in Toro and one say Tungsten or Mercury...selling cars at this level privately is always a 'mare, so you're likely to need to go that route anyway IMO.
2) I didn't. Have yet to see the figures to show it's notably cheaper...
3) 19" wheels, HID lights, SatNav according to dealers. From there, your choice. Note that this has been asked here and on the AMOC forum before a few times, so a search will yield the full lists!
Again, the more options, the easier it's likely to be to sell.
Good answers from Murph.
Many, many moons ago I bought my DB7 Vantage as a personal import. I was living in Germany (but knew I was returning to the UK) when I placed the order, so not a pikey thing to do. I save decent wedge back then but that was in 2000 - I don't think the arb exists to the extent it did then. Some problems (the dealer tried to stiff me with a KPH speedo) and it was quite a hassle but I spoke enough German to get past the problems. On resale, I sold privately after three years, at which point no-one seemed to care (though I had bough an extended AM warranty). I think if you tried to sell an import on after a year, especially into the dealer network, you'd have some issues.
