It takes some doing to produce such an ugly Aston Martin ! The headlamps look like piggy eyes in a bloated face - the grille looks like a mouth just about to vomit, and the tail looks like, well, I don't think that I could safely describe what it looks like without being banned from the Forum for obscenity. Sure, in every other respect the car is fabulous, but looks sure ain't it's strong point.

That's the only RHD one they made.

Having spent some time in the company of a DB7 Zagato (a friend owns one) on which this is based, I can say that, whilst some elements are individually visually challenging (I really hated it in the release photos), as a whole, it works.

Two key elements to that:
  • it works better in the "metal" than it does on a flat page
  • it takes time to grow on you
The AR1 I know less well but I suspect that it too "works" if you get to know it. I agree that it doesn't look good in pictures.

Also, if you want lower depreciation, these will hold their value (IMHO, values of cars can go dowm as a well as up, etc.)

From a resale perspective this is gold IMO - for a little bit over the price of a Ferrari F430 Spider you could have one of these. Providing you like the look of it it isn't a bad buy IMO.

It also doesn't have a roof - so you need to buy it for your villa in the South of France (or live in California).

IIRC, a UK car had an aftermarket tonneau affair but the original had no roof at all. I could be wrong - alzheimers is creeping up on me.

Interesting car, but a DB7Z is the one to have.

I was ambling along Park Lane yesterday and popped into the (tiny!) Mayfair Aston Martin dealer, and the MD there told me that they had 2 of these roofless wonders coming in from somewhere in Germany, LHD only. Clearly made for the Californian market or something! He mentioned approx. 90,000 pounds selling price if I heard correctly...
