V8 Vantage Roadster waiting times?
Discussion
8 weeks it seems
I called three dealers today on the off chance to see what the wait time on a new Roadster would be, and it seems if your willing to have a preset spec there are a handful available for soonish delivery.
I had the choice of 2 demo cars available in 8 weeks time, plus a cancelled order for build on 13th June.
Needless to say that offer was hard to resist with summer coming up, however I'm quite happy with my coupe which I track a fair bit, so my business parter will be picking this up in June:
Not bad for 1 hours work on the phone (at list price), and the new colour too!

I tried this recently too for a friend and found the same. However all cars were pre specc'd demo's - which would have some miles on them too - and all in rather garish colour combo's which didn't work well in Roadster form - IMO. Dealers are quoting Spring '08 for you own spec. If you find a spec that works for you and don't mind paying list for a used car though then I guess this is a route to go.

Thats true. I've found a couple of non-aston dealers with slots that they are willing to sell for £5k over list.
Guess I just got lucky finding a canceled order with delivery mileage at list price for next month! Can't wait

Excellent - if your business partner will let you get near the keys that is My build slot is June 5th so perhaps a mini hoon in celebration may be due? £5k over actually isn't bad - three brokers have offered me £5k over for my slot and I assume they will then sell for more. +£100k for a posh version of a Boxster - ouch!

Cheers Maff, think I've tracked the car down, but it's a sportshift. Has anyone driven one or got any opinions?
IMO it doesn't suit the style of the Roadster. Only really makes sense if you're really going for it when smoothness isn't a consideration. In normal driving it's too jerky and nowhere near as good as a full auto. The only gearbox of this type that I rate is the F430's. Same supplier but much better and indeed better suited to that car. Easiest solution would be to try one? I believe most of the Roadster demos are in this form.

In manual mode it's fine - you have to learn how to finesse the shifts (feather off the throttle), but I reckon a couple of hundred miles should see that done. Downshifts are brilliant with properly matched blips that sound great.
Auto mode is not good. Too jerky, no way to finesse it. And even the dealer noted that 'comfort' in this mode is worth avoiding.
The creep mode is handy. As is the extra oddments space.
The manual box is very good though (in mine at least), which makes advising between the two tricky IMO (particularly with a 3k premium). But I certainly wouldn't discount sportshift without first having a good drive of one and seeing what you think.
Well, due to peer group pressure , I've just traded my '06 coupe for a '07 Roadster (Tungsten Silver with black hood) due to arrive middle of June.
Still at list price, brand new with delivery miles.
Is it me or are people dropping out of their orders? That’s two roadsters for June/July delivery me and my parter have bought this week at list price??
