Anyone know what's happening to resale values? I've just been bid £65k for my 06/06 against an F430. Apparently, quite a few dealers have brand new cars in stock, although not sure if they're cancelled orders or cars they have bought for stock. Quite worrying all the same, as it won't do the brand any favours if they don't get the supply and demand right
does seem to be taking the mick a bit - most dealers will have an 06/06 up at mid £70K's (depending on spec/mileage) ..so they want to allow themselves £10K?
usually you can get that down to nearer £5K if its a clean car, low miles etc...well thats what I found anyway when trading stuff in the past
I bought my V8 last month - Jan 06, with 7K on the clock for £74K from a main dealer...I would have hoped that they'd offered the original owner £68-69 for it.
Sounds like they are offering bottom "book" price for your car...

it sounds a little bit low to me
i have a fully specced car its a nov 05 launch car
recently been bid 68 k for it car was 89 k when new
id really like to change it for another but i think its rather to much of a loss to change at the moment!
love the car but maybe il just keep it till the next model change can you imagine a 5 y old V8 vantage with 80 k on !! how much would that be worth ? well if it keeps loosing at the rate it is il have to pay the next owner to take it off me hands

Dealers are now starting to sell '06 cars from £69-72 , there are 4 trade cars at sub £72K on Autotrader. A AM main dealer had one up for £69 recently (search the PH threads).
£65K is a fair price, I've heard of people being offered £62 but shop around.. you never know, you maybe able to squeeze a few more quid out of them

There are currently 5 on the Aston website at under £74K (with one under £70K).

Best advice is to shop around A LOT, I had bids between 61 & 70k on my 05-55 4k car back in march!

There's ALWAYS someone who "could've" bought or sold better than you. Interestingly they rarely actually have. There are those on here who have - and they're worth listening too - and those that haven't but still have LOTS of opinions.

To be fair to whoami you said "tell you what id love to buy a mint 06 car from a aston dealer for 69 k " and whoami showed you one.

And then there are those that bury their heads in the sand and try to ignore what's going on in the marketplace.
For sure, owners don't like to hear about depreciation, but this forum is also for prospective buyers and it's in their interest to find the best deal.

and you think a aston with 20 k miles on is mint when all the others on the aston site are less than 6 k! that car is 69 k no sorry its 69995 or similar cos its got almost 20 k miles if it had 4 k like all the others it wouldnt be that, it would be 73 k
look fellas like you will always find an answer
do you really think aston dealers would be in business if they had to sell all of there cars at 69 k
now go look on the nissan micra forum maybe you can wind them up i dont really care
also Mr Whoami
i notice you have a V8 Vantage would you be prepared to tell us how little you paid for your car !
look mate all cars are priced about the same from any retailer, if a car is cheap its cheap for a reason every dealer i have ever known get the max that they can for every car

Thank you for highlighting my post - I note too that you didn't disagree............
As regards depreciation it's never really bothered me. Always seems money well spent when I consider how much fun I get from my cars. Why people worry I don't know. Mind you, having said that, I didn't suffer any depreciation on my last two cars and won't on my next one either. There doesn't seem to be a 'smug grin' icon, never mind!

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.
As you rightly point out I too have a V8 Vantage so it's clearly not in my interest to talk down the used prices.
Anyway, it's Friday, a long weekend, and I'm off on holiday for a week.
Buy the car and enjoy it
