New age Vantage competitor - R8
Discussion
Saw Needles nailing the R8 on 5th Gear last night, was thinking to myself that looks like a strong competitor for the V8 Vantage, fast, well made, awesome, more exclusive, etc etc. I saw one in the flesh at Geneva and I personally thought it looks a bit iffy, I am thinking that it maybe Audi's NSX, Technically brilliant, but the wrong badge.
Then the killer question to Tiff from Vicki "So Tiff, £80,000 to spend, what would you have C4S, R8 or Vantage"....Tiff Chose the Vantage....and we all know Tiff would choose the drive over all things else, (but he did mention James Bond!) and I must admit that made me happy...not that I'd ever choose an Audi over an Aston, no matter how good it is.

I had the option on one of the first R8s. On the basis of a couple of test drives I cancelled. A) I thought it looked a bit 'obvious' and self concious - particularly the interior - compared with the Aston and more importantly B) It had no soul and once you got over the 'I'm in the latest toy' initial excitement didn't make you want to get back in and drive, just for the pleasure of it. Very bland driving experience I thought. OK Tiff was hooning around but anyone can get a 400bhp car to do that in second gear. Me I'm v. happy to wait for my second bite of the V8 cherry when my Roadster arrives IN TWO MONTHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry to shout.

Hello Gents!
Ive just defected today from a VERY reliable, very good Porsche 911 to an EXTREMELY gorgeous AMV8.
It is beautiful from EVERY angle!
Ive not had a chance to find a sweeping country road yet........could I be so bold as to ask if the Hampshire "Hoon" is open to "newcomers"??
Would love the chance to meet fellow AM enthusiasts.!! When is the next Hoon?
Best wishes
M

Ah good choice, but Vicky didn't mention the 997GT3 & that white one parked out the front of the Ace cafe was Tiffs Nuff said!
But I still love the Aston

Welcome ! Hope youre enjoying the V8V ! You wont be disappointed on the twisties !
Good move swapping from Pork. I still cant understand how anyone can breathe the word pork, let alone Audi in the same breath as Aston ! German stuff is beautifully engineered etc, but it has little visual appeal. And no one stops to admire pork or audy when theres an Aston Martin nearby !! Final proof, park an ME109 next to a Spitfire - one could argue that the 109 is technically a better aeroplane, but which one brings a tear to your eye?
Hey, and who won the Battle of Britain !
