Hi...just wondering what advice I may get from you guys. I placed a £1000 deposit on a V8 Vantage at the end of 2004 and have been unable to follow through and make the purchase for various reasons...do you know if it's likely that I'll get a chance to get my depost back? Also, I've seen some ads for folk selling their place in the list in The Sunday Times (although mine has come and gone so not quite sure where I'd be right now in said list?) and wondered what the chances were of doing a similar thing. (My original intention was to purchase the car...don't want you to think that I was trying to make a quick buck) Has anybody on here been in a similar position? If so, what did you do?

Many thanks

Not been in a similar position but first question is

What were the terms of the deposit?

2nd Q - Have you spoke to the dealership? They may well be able to give you your money back because of the number of people waiting to purchase? Don't ask, don't get?

If it's just a holding deposit to keep you in the queue then it's fully refunadable - and When I did this it was £5000. Is this for a new car or a dealer used one? When you spec the car they ask for an additional £5000 and that's the point at which it is not refunadable as they are now placing your car in the production system.

And I'd forget trying to sell the place in the queue - the cars aren't that tough to get hold of now and the "I must have one now" crowd moved on long ago.

Have a word with the dealer, but you may have to write it off.

Thanks guys...I'll check my docs when I get home and then contact the dealer...and yes, it was just the £1k...I didn't get round to spec'ing the car (sadly!). Oh well...one day! Certainly the most beautiful car on the road in my opinion.

I'll let you know what happens...

Thanks again.

I suspect politely telling them your circumstances and that you really wish you could go through with it but just not yet might well see you getting it back. After all, they've not really lost anything and could lose a potential customer.

Had the car flopped it might be different, but it didn't.

Get yor money back, there is no money to be made in selling a slot on a V8 vantage, a car that dealers are discounting at the moment due to the impending overhaul with the 2008 model year car coming in september.
Now if you had moved your order onto the roadster and had a june build car you could make a few pounds.
