Flat battery again on the V8 Vantage - I have the charger - but the instructions do not say where to plug it in!

I have plugged it into the power outlet and the transformer look to be making the right noises. Is this right?

Also I have left the keys in the car - should they be turned, unturned, or out of the car? Security is not an issue, the garage is locked etc.....

Help appreciated C-W

I think you should just be able to plug it into one of the 12V outlets (HWM seem to use the one in the boot).

Don't believe you need to leave the keys in.

Best not to let the batteries run flat on these - can lead to a shagged battery (believe they're gel type which don't like deep discharge).

sounds like i've done it right then - seems odd for a two page manual it doesn't say where to plug it in though!

Thanks

chumley, when you say that you have left the keys in the car, do you mean you've left the ignition on as well?

Charger plugs into the 12v outlet in the boot and although it tells you not to, you can also close the boot without causing damage to the lead. Oh, and don't leave the keys in the car, just lock it as normal with the remote once you are plugged in.

Yep, dont run it completely flat whatever you do. The battery can often be recovered, but you need a special charger to do it. Just park up, and plug the charger into the boot socket, behind the little pull out panel on the right of the vehicle, and be sure and check it is firmly in place. You can shut the boot, or just let it rest if its locked in the garage. Then plug it into the mains supply and lock the car as normal. Leave it on all the time, smart chargers cannot overcharge. Remember to unplug and remove the thing before you key on or start. The charger has enough headroom to run all the "always on " electronics, eg alarm, tracker, PCM volatile memory (fuel trims etc) and charge and condition the battery. Well worth doing if you dont drive it every day.

I've plugged it onto the power outlet in the cabin - where the handbrake usually is (except in astons!) above the drive tunnel - ~I assume this is OK

Think so. Are there lights on the charger?

Quit taking the Pork out then! Best way to keep the battery charged is to use it.

And whilst I fully appreciate the positive aspects of the 997, there's simply no way in the world it can feel as special to ride in.

I've done 1500+ in 3 weeks in mine. Needless to say the battery has yet to go flat and I haven't even figured where I'm going to run my charger from
