VANQUISHED ! How low will they go ?
Discussion
Question to those in the know, if you had a 02 Vanquish with 32k on the clock and the vehicle has all the AM fixes that an 02 model would require, what would be the trade in value and what price will they stop at on private sale.
No how long is a piece of string answers please !
Car is Dark Green and my boss was offered £51k part ex as apparently AM aren't buying any in ! Rude ? or just business ?

That's a bit on the low side (cheapest on Autotrader is £66K and that's crash repaired), but they probably didn't want it and just put in a nut-kicking bid on the offchance your boss was daft enough to take it.
The trouble is, I believe, the DB9 (having the same engine but being lighter) is the cause for the Vanquish free fall, and I can understand why dealers aren't buying them in any more (if they've been cluttering up the showrooms)
Best bet would be to sell it privately, put it in for say £64K (and be the cheapest car out ther) and take £62K.. still a good £10K more than was offered.

Sorry, I thought you'd have made the leap with me.

The Nick Mee car is priced at just under £100k.
This point, when taken in combination with the original question is made to suggest to the original poster that £51k could, in light of some current pricing, be a little low.
Got it now?

The NM car is 03 and only 14k miles....apples and oranges really in a market where milage seems to count for a lot.
Hi all, for your information Glasses book indicates for an 0202 Vanquish 2+2 £67000.
And for a 2 seater £62000, with circa 26k miles.
So for instance an 0202 2 seater with 32k, a reasonable amount of prep work and maybe due a service, 51k is not that low, however a ring round to a few Aston dealers would soon bring the currant trade price into focus.
Mark.

Ah - but you saw my point though.
The NM is an early 03 I think, so £50k seems a large discrepency for 20,000 miles. I've owned a few Astons (still have a couple), but accept I may not know what I'm talking about.
Sure....£51k offer I would think is below the market
The thing is we only know *one* thing about the £100k car - that is no-one has bought it yet!
In fact, if the dealer wants to make the 'guide price' - including prepping the car, he is going to need to buy it in at £50k to make it worthwhile.
You have to remember he is tying up £50k of his money in a car which does not have much buyer interest at the moment, and prices are dropping like a stone!
If he gets knocked down my a few grand and spends a few grand prepping, then he may be left with a 10% margin for quite a lot of risk.
The second option if he is considering taking the dealer price is just to private sale it for a few grand more - it will be the cheapest on the market and if there *is* a buyer out there they will snap it up.
Whereas marketing it at the price of the other cars will make the selling process a bit longer...
Market prices seem to be around £70K for 02 cars and £85-90K for 03/04 cars. Some go for higher prices but this is relative to mileage, colour and improved post-December 03 detail specs. There are a few earlier cars going cheaper but I would very careful and investigative going for an early one outside the dealer network or without all updates carried out.
It seems that some excellent 05 Ss were part-exchanged at the end of last year for early 07 cars or late Newport Pagnell production slots. They seem to have gone for around £130K+ through well-connected outlets. From that point onwards some extra ones have come into the market as their owners move either to a new Vanquish S or plan a DBS, a factor that will soften prices, but in my opinion not for long. There are still some buyers fighting for production slots, either for Ultimates or non-Ultimates.
A lot will also depend on the price and rollout of the DBS, with a used Vanquish possibly being a more sensible investment with the additional kudos of being the last Tickford Street Aston Martin and a true non-DSC driver's car.
Just my personal opinion, totally unconnected to the trade, etc.
