Will There Be a Vanquish Replacement?
Discussion
When Bez was interviewed a week or so ago he mentioned a DBX which would be the true long-term successor to the Vanquish/DBS. It would make sense to create that if only because the 599 looks like such a strong competitor and Aston Martin cannot afford to lag behind with its flagship model.

The DBX was just a teaser (placeholder) for any future Aston. Dave Richards said not to read anything into that name! But I know what you mean!

The latest edition of Car magazine has a lot of Aston articles.
In one interview with Dr Bez he mentions a lightweight 500bhp normally aspirated V8 in the future, but then in a drive of the manual Vanquish, Car mentions the possibility of a twin supercharged 700bhp V12 in a couple of years.
Oh, and the Rapide will spawn a shooting brake

The DBS aint a Vanquish replacement. It just happened to have been released about the same time as an outgoing higher model. The Vanquish replacement if/when it comes should be a whole new car, not just a suped up DB9.
The DBS is to the DB9 as the 911GT2 is to the 911.
Its likely that you might have to wait a while for the next flagship AM. If Ford were thinking for quite a while about selling AM, then they werent going to spend too much money on R&D for a Vanquish replacement. So I reckon the new AM owners pretty much have to start a fresh. Not that that will be a bad thing, as they will have a point to prove.
