Obviously the looks of the thing are a plus, but I have heard many mixed reviews from it. People like Jeremy Clarkson love it, despite its shortcomings and I am interested in actual owners opinions of the car. I have heard people say its rather slow, even with its relatively quick 0-60 of 5.8 seconds.

Cheers.

Depends what you want.

It's not a out and out sports car, it's a GT. It likes a drink, it's not the cheapest car to look after, and you have to look long and carefully to be sure you've got a good one.

But: it's got plenty of mid-range torque so overtaking is easy - just drop a gear, floor it and you're past. Best of all, it's got tons of street presence - everyeone looks at you.

Still want one?

One day I would love to own one, at £30,000ish they seem quite a bargain.

Don't own one and havn't driven one, but I have been a passanger in one.

Ok the exhaust doesn't make a loud noise and it isn't the most powerful engine in the world. But this isn't what the DB7 is about. It's a very sophisticated car it kind of says to you grow up cars arn't all about just going fast and making alot of noise there are alot more to cars than that.

When you look at the DB7 you know that it is a special car and when you walk up to it and get in it, it fails to dissapoint. You are surrounded in a cabin full of leather and wood and when you look at the centre console and see that little Aston Martin bage on it you get a little adrenalin buzz because you know you are in one of the finest cars ever made.

On the road (the car i was in was an auto) the car feels really smooth and planted to the road. When you accelerate their is no instant response like you would get from a Porsche or TVR. It is more a gradual build up of speed. I don't know if the power delivery would be any different in a manual DB7.

The down side to a DB7 is that they can be expensive to maintain and their is one thing you should know I read somewhere that the early cars had a different headlamp configuration to the later cars, unfortunatly I dont think you can buy the origionals anymore so if you needed to change your headlamps you will need to upgrade them which can be pretty expensive.

To sum the DB7 3.6 up I think it is a lovely looking car, Its got pleanty of practicality you could put a set of golf clubs in the boot and take the whole family out in it. The car is very comfortable and would be grate car for going on long trips in. I would definatly like to own one sometime.

You can get a sports exhaust - mine goes straight through and sounds nice and burbly. As for response, the manual (like mine) picks up quickly and gives you that surge which feels like it'll never end, since it goes all the way up the rev range, courtesy of the supercharger.

I'd say as well that the straight six helps gives it a strong link with the DB4/5/6 cars of the 60s.

Manuals are much much nicer to drive if you are looking for a quick car (clutch it heavy though), auto is more of a cruiser. Sports exhaust stops it sounding like a Jag as Manek says. It doesn't feel that quick if you are comparing with a turbo as the supercharger provides an amazing wall of torque all the way up the rev range , not just as it comes on boost - but it is quick.

However when it looks that good - who cares how fast you are going.....

IMHO, the DB7 GT is the one where they got it right (out of the DB7 range that is) and is the one to go for

Bad thing about DB7's, bits of Ford Escort everywhere

You're right up to a point.

But you know what? When you're in it, and when everyone else sees you in one of the best looking cars ever made with an Aston badge on the front, how much do you really care?

You figure it out...
