I have just had my V8 back from Aston Works Service. Car was picked up two weeks ago by a covered low loader and returned the same way. Have to say that the car returned immaculate and during the two weeks the service experience was excellent.

Had an A4 page of warranty faults sorted as well as a worrying oil leak that they found. Car also needed new number plates fitting but total cost was £980 inc vat and delivery, with nice AM calender and a tin of sweets on the passenger seat.

Another dealer quoted me the same price but would have given me an XK whilst the car was in. However I think it was worth the extra delivery cost for the works stamp in the book. They even cured the squeeling brakes......for now.

Would post a pic if I knew how - will not let me cut and paste off hard drive. Any help appreciated.

Ah, the days of Works Service! I used to take one of mine there - very nice people, but boy do they know how to charge!

You can't post pics from your local drive with ease - you need to have your photo remotely stored on the web somewhere, photobucket is a good service for example. Load the pic there and then enter the http data into your message here with on the other. Does that make sense?

2/ if you e mail me the pic, I'll host and bung it up.

Yes they would. There would, however, be a small charge. (Ahem).

The charge was £60 plus vat for delivery, and I am in Leicester. I think it works out at around 35p a mile.

Just curious as to the work you had carried out? As the list was warranty work, I'm presuming that the tin of sweets didn't cost £980

Btw, we are fairly close by the looks of things (I'm warwks/leics border) and am due to hand mine over to Works for some interior trim work sometime soon so thanks for posting as I was unsure on the collection costs.

Great experience with WS myself and if you collect your own car the tour they'll give you is worth it. The restoration work that they do is great to see. I'll certainly be taking my 9 back to WS.
