Some advice on purchasing a used V8V
Discussion
Hi Guys
Some advice needed, i have seen a V8V that tickles my fancy, its being sold privately and July 06 registered. I want to get the car checked out before i hand over my bankers draft. RAC or AA any good for this? cost around £340 for a full 166 point check with them. Or do is it best to get it checked by a specialist like AM dealer (if they offer such a service). This is my first car over £70k so want to be sure its the right car and no nasty suprises at a later date, advice VERY welcomed
Thanks
Amar

I know I'm going to come in for some flak from existing AM fans, but paying over £70K for an 06 AMV8 in a private sale seems a bit high.
Here is a well specced 06 car with just 1500 miles from a dealer for £74K.

What do you think he paid for it ? There's no reason why you can't pay what a dealer pays to buy a car.
Given it's the price before negotiation and dealers have a margin over private sale prices I think 06 prices are sub £70K. If you're going to pay dealer retail prices then get the full dealer experience with peace of mind too.
