Test drove a 2007 AMV8...
Discussion
Had to chance to have a one hour test drive in a 2007 spec AMV8 (I believe it was AM Park Lane's own car) at the Stoke Park event today.
Had read all the previous comments/posts and as a current 997 owner I went with a fairly open mind. Had one of the Aston Performance Driving instructors with me who knew the car inside out and we spent a long time discussing the car and how best to drive to max performance, handling, etc
Have to admit that overall I was extremely impressed. The car felt solid, highly engineered (which did surprise me..) and the noise and looks speak for themselves. Something about the whole ownership experience (image, rarity value, etc) that has major appeal.
Only negatives for me were the cheap SatNav from a Volvo and the Mondeo keyfob. Guess I could very easily live with both though.
Guess the biggest compliment you can give the car is that once I sat back in my 997 it felt somehow quite cold and without soul.
Has seriously got me thinking about putting my name on the list for a 2007 version. Great car.
Cheers - Erik

In a month or so AM will cease making the Coupe for approx five months and solely produce Roadsters which will benefit from revised suspension and brakes plus a few other updates. The Coupe will get these too when production starts again towards end of summer - so make sure you get a 2008 model year car, not a 2007.

I would be prepered to open it with a complex array of ropes and pulleys if it meant I owned one
Summed up nicely , ffs, who ,if sane , cares about a key or the appearance//function/not nice to look sat nav because it`s from a Volvo/Ford/Trabant or a fookin wheelbarrow , I don`t drive a Volvo or a Ford ( disclaimer , both fine vehicles in their own right) I drive an Aston Martin......!!
You can come back now rant over.

Would like to know is this is 100% confirmed and where the source of the information was.
I do have an 2007 V8 currently on order and know that some spec's where changing for the Roadster, due to the extra weight.
I know the keyless entry has been rumoured for a while. More info on this would appreciated. Thank you.

Mondeo Key : Couldn't find a pic of the Aston key, but I have had enough through my hands to know they are not the same ???
It's actually closer to looking like a Volvo key but really, if that's all you are worried about

Agreed - I have just ordered an AMV8 and asked the same question. Dealer called the factory and reported back that a keyless system would cost £3M to develop and was therefore not going to happen.
Whether or not this is factual remains to be seen but at least they asked.

Hi folks, please excuse this question if I am missing something, but do the "keyless entry" remarks refer to keyless start? I don't ever remembering having to put the key into the door to unlock the door before entering. In the states keyless entry means just that, being able to unlock your car without using the key. I had a keyless start system in my FX45 which was a pretty cool feature.
