1st Year of production, I know my 2001 DB7 Vantage had lots of uncorrected teething troubles. Anyone have an opinion as to whether or not the cars got a lot batter in later model Years, or if there are certain "must have" mods that should have been carried out on earlier cars?

Would you steer clear until you could afford a newer one?

Many thanks

I would buy new. This would apply to any car, not just a vanquish. I know there's all this stuff said about how much you loose as soon as you start the engine for first time and drive away, but there is a whole raft of reason to buy new (for me) and only a smattering in favour of 2nd hand.

You're obviously loaded then As for me, I can feel the difference between 170K and 70K, and so can my Bank Manager - and Wife!

I think an early V12 Vanquish would be a bit of a bargain - the depreciation will have maxed and the VAT is long gone.

However I would factor +£15k into the equation for the manual (gear shift) conversion at Works Service.

The Vanquish is probably an over-priced car for what you actually get (I've owned one), so I can see some sense in a second hand one. Most will have been looked after too.

You'd look for all the usual stuff too - service history, a dealer warranty maybe etc.....

I have to say, I did wonder the same..

considering from a 'used' perspective, you could get a Vanquish, DB9 or V8 Vantage for around the same price, you have to say the Vanquish is a bit of a bargin, i'd go for the DB9 if i could stretch, but if you've found a Vanquish at 70k, you'd be nuts not to

I intend to buy a Vanquish (could be a 2001 model) in about 2020. Should be about £15k then.

I'll wait until I am the other side of 50 and ready to take things a little slower
Not saying that I don't like Astons, but I'm still not ready to move over and let the bigger boys have all the fun hehe

Brinky Baby (do you mind me calling you Brinky Baby or would you rather be called Sir?). All you told me was that you simply cannot appreciate a depreciate of 100K, as in it doesn't register on your Doshometer. My hat's off to you, as without you, folks with only a fraction of your net worth could never enjoy the things you once bought and then discarded like forgotten toys.

Wonder if those who are the second/third/fourth/whatever owners of other classics like DBR1/2s, D-Types, C-Types, etc (the sort of stuff you probably should be banned from buying - even if you have the money) look at life the way you do. The billionaires I have met don't seem to, but that's just my experience.

Stay real dude, or shit the F@#$k up.

Move over from what? I already run a Sagaris and a 71 Elan Sprint.

I'm thinking along these lines too (a 70K Vanquish) was comparing it to a 997 S Porsche and thinking even a 360 (around 60K). The only thing is I don't currently have a suitable garage so it's a 'no' until we move house.

Seems to me the Vanquish is a bit of a bargain although the one I looked at was a little dispointing due to the colour (black on black) which didn't really suit its lines, emotive statement though.

My V12 Vantage Volante was never garaged in over a Year that I owned it. Never did it any harm whatsoever. I'd hazard a guess that a Vanq is if anything more watertight than a Volante.
