You lucky chap!
Forget the factory spec thing, I'll save you the trip

Titanium
Blue Roof
Caspian blue interior (perhaps with course stiching)
19 inch wheels (or even Db9 sport wheels...look fantastic on the V8)
heated seats (roof down cold weather)
sat nav (lets hope its better than mine & your last one!)maybe phone as well!
cruise
Powerfold mirrors (handy for a tight spot)
& maybe if you are feeling flush push the boat out with the full stereo upgrade.
possibly HIDs, but they don't seem that good on mine! Hello £98k.

Not forgetting the fluffy pink car mats, it is a cabriolet after all,
but if you have a successful hairdressing business why the hell not!

Git! - both for reminding me of the price and that last comment! Actually, seriously having second thoughts - is it really a £100k car? Makes returning to the fold in a (IMO more beautiful) £14k cheaper coupe look very appealing.

Sorry, it's only because I'm jealous!
Providing it is as rigid as Aston promise & the roof insulation/seal is good I think it will be stunning & add a whole new dimension to the V8's appeal.

Just imagine what that V8 will sound like with the roof down, the wind buffeting your face as you hurl down your favorite B road adding to the sensation of speed.

An Aston sized assault on your senses.

Of course if it ends up being floppy you'll just sell it straight away for a nice premium, but I reckon they will get it right..............lucky b*gger!

Pugsey,

Will you be ending your relationship with the 3 to buy this?

As one of the people who have dropped an absolute fortune on the coupe( Im not moaning just stating, i love owning the car every minute) but i just will not go down the same route again with the cab. Plus i still think the coupe looks better. Im sure there will not be as many made as the coupe in the first year of production but i very much doubt that the cab will be bomb proof for very long.

Plus the conversation with the dealer that sticks in my mind from when i offered them my coupe doesn't help. It went along the lines of.

Salesman : " Im sorry i have to pull your pants down and im offering you the lowest price you have had regardless of the fact that you brought the car from us new but would you be interested in the new V8 roadster?"

Me : " thanks ill have a think about that one, NO !!!!! "

Im sure its a great car but i dont think it will be a great swap from the 3.

I also dont think its a 100k car just like the coupe shouldn't have been a 90k car, 10k less on both should have been about right.

Hi Bund - yes it would replace the GT3. On the face of it it wouldn't look a great swap but in reality I think it would be. The GT3 is awesome - even more so than you've probably read if that's possible - but it is very 'one dimensional' - in other words it's designed to get from a. to b. very, very fast (or slowly if there are any speed bumps involved) indeed and when you're in that kind of mood it's fantastic fun. That aside although everyday useable it doesn't offer much the rest of the time other than the knowledge that you own an icon. Consequently I am already finding that unless I am 'in the mood' I'm leaving the GT3 in the garage and taking the X5 - which seems a waste of £86k - whereas I used to wheel the AM out for as many journeys as I could. If I'm going to leave it there a fair bit it might as well be something more extreme - like a Caterham. On the other hand every journey in the V8 was a pleasure - fast or normal (and let's face it most day to day stuff is at normal speeds) - in fact just opening the door and getting into that interior was still a wow moment for me after six months as was just seeing the car on the drive. Factor all that in plus the fact that I like drop top driving and the swap looks a better bet. Perhaps outright speed isn't everything and V8s aren't exactly slow anyway.

I hear you - and feel your pain - re values and agree that the coupe will always be the better looking car. If I had to second guess myself I'd say that I'll cough up the £100k - making a small whimpering sound no doubt - enjoy a couple of summer months, get out at no loss, find myself a nice lightly used coupe and pick up the phone to those nice Prodrive chappies.

Or of course I might take the R8 I've just specced for June! Now my brain's hurting............................

That'll teach you to ask a simple question!

All good answers.

I had a problem with my Aston when i first bought it which would have led to Aston either giving me some money back or we came to an arrangement.

The arrangement was that I could have very early DBS or any car i chose really. Iv gone down the DBS route and im having massive second thoughts about that.

I dont mind losing money on cars as I could be into a lot worse things but im just not sure that Aston is the make i thought it was. Maybe the DBS will change my mind but i do feel an urge to have an F - car after the GT3.

When are you due to take your next AM? If they'll give you an early V8 Roadster slot you could run it for a while and not loose out financially. I think you'll take a serious hit on the DBS and if you're a V8/GT3/F*****i man I'm not sure it's for you.

Ah yes the 'F' itch. Haven't scratched it properly yet. Looked at a perfect 360 the other day - low miles, one owner £60k. Makes you think doesn't it. Add in a high end Caterham or maybe a bike and there's your GT3/V8 £86k! Or add a Boxsters for useable drop top and that's your £100k AM Roadster. Probably wouldn't kick you too hard on resale if it proved to be a mistake either. Or get an order in now for F430 replacement. Friend had v.early 430, enjoyed it for six months then sold for £20K premium! When do you move over to GT3?

The GT3 is March build and looking forward to it.

I first thought that the DBS may be limited in numbers leading to it possibly being a collectors but now im of the impression it being a DB9 with a body kit and that idea has gone out of the window.

As for the F430 replacement i put in a LOI back in Jan 2005 so i hope i should be up there for an early car and by then have a nice heated triple garage to put it in. Yes the 360 does keep coming up but but but I love the F430 but do not want to fall trap to the must have the new one thing AGAIN. Im waiting for the rug to be pulled on the F430, might be a long wait at this rate.

I may have a word with Aston and see if there is anything they can do to change the favour they owe me. but perhaps not and ill just keep the favour on hold, they certainly didnt want to do me a favour when i offered them my coupe

A very telling line "do not want to fall into the must have new one trap again" That's the little tinker that keeps costing money. It's why I'm looking at 360s - after all it was the latest thing quite recently and sliding your purchasing back one model does save £10ks - IMO that approach or being the absolute first (but then you can't enjoy the car for long) is the way to go. Hey ho. - there's worst decisions to have to make. Better get on now with earning the dosh to make it all possible I guess.
