Quite a bad crash in a Vanquish.....
Discussion
Sorry AMDB7, nothing personal to you, but we have had a fleet of these crashed wrecked Aston pictures posted, I really do not see the fascination in ghoulishly pawing over other peoples misfortune, each one has been a terrible accident that looks likely to have caused terrible injuries!
I just hope the people are ok.

Description:
Aquaplaned and couldn't regain control of vehicle. Went straight into the barrier and slid along underneath. Driver walked away unhurt with minor bruises.
I find that very hard to believe

The windscreen has taken the initial hit from the barrier, shielding the driver as the car went under it from what I can see.

100% agree. Totally don't understand the interest in these crash postings.I just hope the people are ok.
There are three posters here whom I ( nearly ) always take an interest in , I find the views they broadcast to be more in line with my own opinion .
After reading their contributions I mainly muse , I could have written that , truth is I cant ,I was a dunce at school, failed every exam and my reports were always " needs to pay attention or could do better , below average was another. I hardly ever start a post, no confidence I suppose,........but when they all simultaneously agree that someone has posted inapropriatly and that he`s a "cock" , I have to agree.
Don`t get me wrong I can make my own decisions, it`s a sort of mawkish preconception that surfing certain sites and posting the page so we can all enjoy the discovery together is somehow bonding and interesting is alien to me , I also find the post discussion of how it ( the accident ) occurred a strange and unsettling experience, so much conjecture is surely counter productive.
Merry Christmas to all .
Edited to say four , sorry Daz

Great picture AMDB7, I always look forward to seeing these shots as it gives you a greater understanding into the engineering behind the safety features built into the cars. AM made great note of the unique method they used to build the cant rails and "A" posts for the Vanquish, a unique spin weaving process with carbon fiber. You can clearly see from the pictures the windscreen/"A" pillars have survived the accident remarkably well leading to the likelihood of less damage to the passenger/driver. What concerns me is the distance the car slid under the rail, the side intrusion of a fence post would likely cause severe trauma to the occupants. Some people may object to the pictures, as is their right, I find them quite intriguing and very educational once careful analysis is done.

So says the man with a lovely barn conversion, 996TT, AMV8 & (whisper)...a BMW 4Wd "thingy" (sorry, but two out of three isn't bad) etc etc !
Whilst wealth isn't the final judge of any man it certainly shows the grey cells are all present, correct & working exceptionally well I think!
Merry Xmas & a happy new year to you.
Point here is the majority of people on here know about the website 'wrecked exotics' and if they, for what ever reason, needed to look at a smashed up Vanquish that is the first place I'd look.
As a passionate motor enthusiast, I don't enjoy looking at destroyed automobiles and it all makes me wince. My immediate thought is, sh*t hope the occupants were ok?
Sorry I called you a cock, but this sort of post is not adding value to Pistonheads or the Aston forum really is it ?
Merry Christmas by the way

Having lost several friends in car crashes over the years I find it unsettling that out there a cold fish is sitting who "always looks forward to these shots" and "finds them quite intriguing and educational" waiting to paw over the picture of a crash that people may have been seriously injured in, or worse. Equally chilling is the complete lack of concern or sympathy for the occupants of the car. I appreciate there is much to be learned from examining crashed vehicles and am glad that there are highly qualified individuals who do this. I don't see the need for this to be 'enjoyed' so publicly here though. Perhaps if you had arrived first at a serious accident and watched someone die - as I have - you would "look forward" to these pictures a little less. Roo
Sorry all, if this is a little heavy, but there's enough crap out there without bringing it on here for no good reason.

I agree. However there is something goulish in the human DNA - it does cause us to glance at a wreck.
Like most here, I don't like seeing damaged exotica, makes me wince too.
There are a thousand unpleasant links that could be posted here (or anywhere) from beheadings to beatings - posting the link does not abrogate the poster.

He's a Griff 500 as well, so three out of four
Like the majority of people who drive we all know someone who has perished in a wreck. I've also arrived at accidents and pulled people from cars, so what...that's life. That doesn't mean analysing and understanding why crashes occur and how cars react after crashing is a bad thing, if anything it should make you appreciate your abilities more and save you from going beyond them and ending up in a bad accident. Knowing you have a chance to survive and gaining confidence in your car's ability to protect you in the case of one is invaluable. As long as gruesome pictures of injured or deceased occupants is not broadcast I have no problem viewing crash pictures. Just because someone chose to post a picture here is no reason to insult them and call them a "cock", as we saw from the Vanquish photo superior enginering may well have saved a life. If you don't like what you see don't look, you have that choice, but just because you dont like something doesn't give you a right to censor or ban it.

Bit harsh on AMDB7 I feel chaps, I am sure he meant no offence and simply was enquiring if anybody knew anymore about the crash.....(That's my take on it anyway)...
Exactly, he wrongly got flamed for simply asking if "anyone knew anymore details".
No flamers gave any info, they just stuck their oar in.
