Bluetooth phone connection
Discussion
I got my little nokia to pair with my car, and if I make calls from the phone and ask the car to join in, it works fine.
But I have yet to find anythiing that resembles a menu anywhere? Is the bluetooth option only controlled from the handset / voice command, or am I missing a trick - I haven't got my handbook yet.....

Im sorry, but not having one of these (V8) I cant help much. I have a Disco 3 with Bluetooth, and the manual for the communications system is bigger than the one for the car with the result that I have never read it. What I was trying to say in my obtuse way was that I rather regret specifying Bluetooth, as it connects and disconnects in an unpredictable way causing me to miss calls and then because it does not need to be plugged it it runs out of juice. I have come to the conclusion that it is OGTM (One Gimmick Too Many)
I honestly thought Bluetooth was going to be the ideal technical wonder. It ain't!
I have a car with bluetooth and it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. In theory I should jump in my motor with a previously registered/paired phone and the car should twin with it immediately. Hardly ever does, so I've gone back to the earpiece!
I've just bought a Bentley (with bluetooth) and am told it only works with certain Nokia phones. What's the point???
I have bluetooth on my M5 which like the AMV8 talks to my Nokia - I also have two O2 XDA type phones.
The reality was when I first bought these phones they worked, when you actually use these phones and stack them full with 1000+ contacts the bluetooth / onboard computer can't cope and then fails to connect.
This might not be the only reason, but it certainly a reason my Nokia does work all the time. Shame it has to be voice recognised on the V8 - I end up dialling with the handset and then switching across to the car.

The "Blue & Me" Bluetooth system on the new Alfa Romeos is fantastic.
You can use either voice control or steering wheel buttons, it reads your text messages out (in a female Stephen Hawkins voice ) and includes a USB port for playing MP3 files off a memory stick or hard drive in the glovebox. All menus are displayed on the dashboard - phone book, music folders etc.
It seems to work better with some phones rather than others though, so it might be worth borrowing a phone and seeing if that makes any difference.
