Hello,

Has anyone seen the DB5 replica on ebay. The pictures on ebay look like the real thing. I'm sure he has put a picture of a real 5 just to try and sell it?

Have a look yourself

Can anyone notice anything wrong with it?

Bollocks if that is based on an MGB. His kit might be, but that photo is not an MGB. Too big. The DB5 is a surprisingly big car. The MBG is not. Its a scam.

I have never heard of a DB5 replica based on anything, nevermind an MGB, so I would say its a scam. The seller is hoping someonw eill thingk "hang on. Thats an original but he thinks its not, so I'll bid it up quite high..." and then get stung.

As for the grill, well the verticle bars are behind the horizotal ones, so you might not necessarially see them at that angle.

Now that's a thing you simply don't do!!!
But has any of you seen a DB4/5 replica before??
The MGB could be a "good" base for a DB4GT, as it got a too short wheelbase for the DB5.
Or you could build something around a Volvo 1800S.

Ebay pics are definitely of a real one (see my last link above)

The DB4 that got pushed off the cliff in the Italian job was apparently a replica, but it was based on some sort of Lancia I think I heard.

He also said the interior is standard MGB, If you look at the picture of the rear of the car, it has a DB5 rear seat.

Ok, I've done a little more research, and assuming that the pics he's posted aren't what he's actually selling (and that he knows nothing about cars!!) I reckon what he's got might be one of these....

An "Coune" Berlinette Coupe, which is based on an MGB. Real ones are very rare and probably worth a fair bit in their own right. However, quite a few MG enthusiasts have tried to make replicas of the Berlinette over the years, and I think that our ebay friend may have found himself one of these? scratchchin

The Berlinette was the first real attempt at creating an MGBGT, the factory took a close look at it while designing the GT. if it is one in reasonable condition it'll be worth £20k +

All those photographs are a 5, couldn't be otherwise, other than possibly a 4 dressed up as a 5. There was a time when that might have made sense.

We won't know, as the car has been withdrawn from ebay.

If they had have made a DB5 replica, I think there would be tons of them about now.

I think the fact it been removed is obviously that it was a joke. Funny that it was just around the time Casino Royale was released too.
