Discussion
I had a chat this morning with an Aston dealer about the DBS. The dealer principal had recently been to the the World Dealer conference in New York and had the following information:
1. 500 hp
2. extensive use of carbon fibre
3. 100 kg lighter than a DB9
4. Production starts in October 2007
5. 500 cars to be produced each year
6. Not a Vanquish replacement (even though Vanquish production ends soon)
They anticipate the following:
1. 200 mph
2. 0-60 mph in 4 seconds
3. £150k-£160k
Apparently the car looks amazing in the flesh!
Anyway, this is what I was told and I now can't wait for it to be launched. I put my name down for it in November last year and so I am number 2 on the dealers list. I am very excited!
If anybody else has any further information, please share it.

You heard much the same story as me, from another DP at the same event. Mine wasn't as sure when deliveries will start, so can't promise me one until Q1 2008.
As for this vs the 599, I've recently cancelled my 599 order. I could be wrong, but as good as they are I think Ferrari have over-egged it by charging about 220k for a loaded one, so expect these to drop in value.
The DBS meanwhile looks about as sexy as a car can be, and might actually drive something close to as good as it looks. I'm not known for my love of Aston's to drive (don't like the V8V at all, sorry), but can't wait to get this one.....

They are likely to produce about 300, no more. A bit later on, people will be asking for advice on what options are the best to go for- because they are going to keep them for ever but don't have an opinion....
...and closer to the time, a lot of people will have "change in circumstances" which means they need to sell their deposit. Luckily for them, the options they chose mean they can command a nice premium, and walk away having never intended to buy the car at all.
I hate people who speculate with cars...

The Ferrari 599 will drop in terms of high premiums that will be commanded at the outset aroudn 6 months after launch but I would go for one over a DBS as its unique against other Ferraris and build quality will be much better. I have had 2 x DB9 Coupes and qulaity is poor but what do you expect with an Aston.
Once you have seen the car in Casino Royale, you will fall in love with it. I thought the same thing about the body kit until I saw the movie. The car looks awesome, especially from the rear. Much more sinister than a DB9. It was great to see how much of the switchgear from the DB9/Vantage is carried over. I almost felt like, hey, I own one of these beauties....ie. my Vantage!

Nope, saw the movie last weekend and I still don't get it. It's just too fussy.
It is a very tiny way, between success and complete failure, if you are modifying the DB9.
Aston did it right (on the other hand you got Mansory).
But still I would want something in between the 9 and the S.
I would want a DB9 with the clear tail lamp of the S, but the 9's boot lid. And the rear diffusor of the S.
At the Front I would want the larger air intakes without the wide "things" at the side.
And of course I would want the gorgeous DBS interior.
Under the metal of course DBS.
