Some general questions - AMV8V
Discussion
I'm sure these have been answered in previous threads, but it's always interesting getting a fresh perspective.
1) Reliability - can one expect them to work as "any" modern car? I currently have a Gayman Coxster which needs a major service every 40,000 miles. Compare that to my TVR Cerbera which needed a service every 4 miles - extremes
2) When is the service interval and how pricey can it be?
3) How long is the standard warranty? How much are they to renew? Are they generally pretty honest or do they look for any way out?
4) Dealers... are they all pretty much ok or are some not so ok (please feel free to PM me)? The nearest one to me is in Kent. Are dealers only loyal to those who bought from them?
5) Buying used - I'm a big fan of buying new (I appreciate the 'service' you get when buying from a dealer for a car of this money), but is buying nearly new (6 months / 1 year) about as safe? Should one even delve into private sales?
5) Convertible / Roadster. Now this is a stonker isn't it?! Thing is I like tintops, so is the general concensous that the roadster will be more popular and hence the coupe will devalue at a greater rate or that it will hold firm.
One thing that's interesting looking at old threads is before the thing was out it was "cast iron depreciation" and a few years on.... "dropping like a stone".
Any opinions gratefully received.
Cheers,
Ben
PS. I'm at BTaP should any owner be there and fancy a natter over a pint or two.

Yes, not as well put together as Pork but as good as most!
2) When is the service interval and how pricey can it be?
One year 10k £560 net of VAT
3) How long is the standard warranty? How much are they to renew? Are they generally pretty honest or do they look for any way out?
3 years, dealers seem very fair on warranty items
4) Dealers... are they all pretty much ok or are some not so ok (please feel free to PM me)? The nearest one to me is in Kent. Are dealers only loyal to those who bought from them?
Can only say...so far..... mine has been great, but they aren't in Kent!

For me I still think it is best to buy from the dealer network to ensure best support/back up 1 year old cars still have 2 years warranty left & most are nearly as new
5) Convertible / Roadster. Now this is a stonker isn't it?! Thing is I like tintops, so is the general concensous that the roadster will be more popular and hence the coupe will devalue at a greater rate or that it will hold firm.
Depends on how the roadster gets rated, the DB9 Volante was panned for lack rigidity

Isn't that all cars these days, the simple fact is Aston oversupplied to the UK, this has caused the residual problems, they are promising to rectify this, but only time will tell. The story goes that next year will see far less coupes available in the Uk, so used prices will firm up
Any opinions gratefully received.
I still say buy used, low mileage & negotiate a bit!
Cheers,
best of luck
