Useful forum this!

I've already read the comments on other threads about the depreciation and hence bargains to be had on used, but I'll still ask anyway..

What are the "essential" options? Seems to me Sat Nav, Leather and bigger wheels.

One one hand I need to price an "average" new car and on the other, balance it up against used.

I don't think the depreciation is particularly scary as it's about as expected, percentage-wise, on this sort of value luxury car.

Heyhey! I've read about Fuse 22

Have been trawling the website and called the dealer (I have a test drive booked on Saturday week). Just was looking for something on-line.

It was the dealer who said "big wheels + sat nav + full leather" = essential.

Base price is £82k.

The upgraded sound system is a lot better than basic, but that's a personal choice.
Xenon lamps are worth adding on imo.

What colour spec have you gone for (may have already asked you)

Plus delivery etc etc & that is a frightener, you will soon be staring 90k in the face!!!

Used is the way to go, there are some great buys around at the moment, but they won't last Aston are dramatically reducing UK coupe production in 07, due to the new Volante (roadster!) & increased American demand. Prices will firm up next year!
That's what I keep telling myself anyway!!!!!

I'd order mine without the HID. IMO the front looks much prettier without the power wash (although I've never seen one without).

I'm not in a position to order a V8 at present but if I was I wouldn't have power wash headlights. One damn gimmick too many. It doesn't look pretty, plus it uses up the screenwash, plus what real good does it do anyway.furious I know we're all too cool for our trousers but how hard is it to run a sponge over the headlights occasionally yes

I left them off my Boxster and never regretted it

I agree about the headlight washers, but as they come as standard with the HIDs you can't have one without the other.
The AMV8 is a serious performance car & as such benefits from the proper equipment on these dark wet winter nights, the standard lights just aren't good enough (it is the same with Porsches) for the performance of the car!

As I had HIDs on my S2000 (standard), I *had* to have them on the Cayman (£800 option). They are excellent - 7 months later I'm still amazed when on an unlit country road.

btw, I thought it was a legal requirement that HIDs come with washer jets. (The ones on the Porsche pop up, wash, disappear so they don't look cr&p.)

You're right; they are although I don't see the point behind this.

Sure the HID are much stronger than standard Halogen. But all the Vanquish and DB7 only have Halogen. And my car doesn't even have Halogen and it's never a problem. (OK she isn't as fast as the Vantage, or the DB7, etc.)

BTW, does anybody got a photograph of a Vantage or DB9 without HID??

I'd advise you go for the smokers pack as it adds a cigar lighter, vital for camera detectors and you can put mints in the nice glass ashtray hehe.

BTW, I'm not sure about the washer jets on the V8, but I presume they hide in the actual lamp cluster like the DB9's? you can hardly tell its there.

I am guessing that Fuse 22 is for the exhaust valves/European driveby regulations etc?

I had my Vanquish 'de-corked' and was told it's far better to have the small vacuum hoses plugged (I think it's plugged rather than un-plugged) rather than removing the fuse. There was a fair bit of discussion about this at Works Service originally and removing the fuse upsets the cars' 'brain' somewhere.

For some reason, rear parking sensors appear to delight the second hand market! Not sure if this is even an option on the V8 though....

Nice stable NDA, you will pleased to know that in the UK the AMV8 comes with parking sensors as standard.
To be honest I would NEVER have specced parking sensors, not good for street cred, but now I have them, they are a useful edition!

Whilst the Cayman was out of my hands for 3 weeks I had 3 different "equivilent value" loan cars all with parking sensors. I thought they were great... until I got back in my own car (without) and reversed back waiting for the beep beep beep which never happened. Clonk! rolleyes

Does that mean you get two cigar lighters in a car with the smoker's pack?
