Cost of new cars - typical amount off?
Discussion
Hey Guys,
I'm originally TVR but now able to move across to Aston (new forums, wooohoo) and am in the process of getting a new Vantage and have looked around a fair bit.
Does anyone know how much one could normally expect to get off the list price of a brand new Vantage at an approved AM main dealer?
They seem not to be budging at all on price which I'm not used to - is this normal in AM territory?
Looking forward to joining in the discussions!!

Ross,
Nearly new is the way to go if you want a discount, over supply means there are some good deals at the moment, BUT as coupe build numbers are dropping dramatically for 2007 (due to the cab) & US demand is ramping up, further restricting uk supply, I doubt you will get more than a few free "extra's" (mats/battery conditioner etc) thrown in on a new one.
A nice low mileage 06 would be perfect though, just do a search through the official Aston website.

DO you think I could get those freebies when I get my new Roadster?

Grant3 is right, nearly-used is the way to go with '06 cars available for £72-74K (£18K off new price).. and that's what the dealers are selling them for, the previous owners having been given mid-high £60s for them buying new would be suicide.

A drop from 90k to 65k within the year is somewhat frightening.
yes a few around however they all have something rong with then ie milage no satnav colour or whatever and most arnt at a main dealers
i still challenge anyone to find me a 06 vantage at a aston main dealer for 72 k ( that is what the orginal post stated ) more like 80 k
always something cheaper till you want one

Let's not forget, these are the STARTING prices for negotiation.. I've never spent that kind of money before without getting at least a few grand off. (In fact in my 3 recent purchases in the £60K area I've managed to get around £5K off each car)
Ask yourself this too, how much were the previous owners offered for the cars before the dealers have them up for sale at £74?? You know it's in the £60s. Paying £90s for a new one is financial suicide.

I said £72/74 from a dealer (didn't say main dealer). Even so, the posts above have already shown you main dealer 06 cars in the £74 area, so £72 would be easily achieved in negotiation. I would defy anyone who is unable to get them to knock £2k off. Find a private seller or specialist and that will only be improved on.
I would be surprised to find the main dealers owned those cars too.. given the depreciation on them, I don't think the dealers would like to have them in stock. Call the dealer, find out if they're SOR.. if they are, the dealer has nothing to lose by getting the owner to knock the price down.

The people at Long Stratton maintain that the price range from say £72 thousand are of early low spec cars without leather etc , they also say that production of the Vantage ( coupe) will slow . These are my observations and just hearsay from a dealer , so make what you will of them.
In conversation , some comments were made that the forthcoming introduction of Prodrive alterations are not to be factory sanctioned and therefore will not be covered by the AM warranty.
On a lighter note, 007 registrations are now available from DVLA and ...two tickets for the premier of the latest Bond flick were made for available for me which I think were a nice touch.

How else could they justify their prices otherwise ? Get the chassis number from an owner, and call a dealer and ask what they'll offer you for it. (Have paramedics at hand)
There's a 1 owner 2006 (and that's a 2006 06, not 55) with leather, sat nav, stitching, heated seats on Autotrader for £75K (see my comments above about that being the starting price)

Who in their right mind paid 90K for an AMV8?

Would never have guessed from GT2man-2's comments that he was in the market for a V8.
Indeed I am, and there's nothing wrong in buying a heavily depreciating car.. you just have to be on the right side of the depreciation.

No doubt the good spin-doctor will be back telling us about the rock-solid residuals if he ever gets one.
And what do you base the assumption on that I would do that ?? LOL.. no, I don't think anyone would be convinced by tales of strong residuals.. no matter how much I willed them to. Within weeks of launch cars were available at list, that was the first warning sign. There's no spin.. just numbers clear as day. Prove me wrong if you disagree.
