HEADS UP FOR A NEW AMV8 review
Discussion
Quite a decent article.
I just think that spending £85,389 on a 997 S just a little excessive, when it looks pretty much the same as a 1999 3.4 996, that can be had for around £20,000 these days. Just park them side by side other and ask the missus if she notices any different, then tell her there is a £65,389 difference between the two cars...
Also parting with £85,389 and then having trouble finding your new tool in the long stay car park at Heathrow as there are 42 similar cars in the same row....

Be happy you can make those choices, park a DB7 next to an AMV8, and the same missus will not let you down!
I love the AMV8 and bought one (for a day) but I now drive a Porsche. I'm not here to impress my neighbours/friends or the child on the street, I buy cars to get my money's worth, and am very sorry but the V8 is overpriced.
I hope this doesn't turn into a slagging match, because they are both great cars, the 911 may not be your, or many others cup of tea, just like the V8 is not mine, and it may be a popular choice with jet setting clientel, but familiarity does not breed contempt with true pistonheads.

I have been training my missus with the difference between DB7, DB9, Vanquish and V8 Vantage, so she will not let me down! Although there is another side to this, park a 180k Vanquish, 110k DB9 and a 80k Vanatge next to each other and many people will not notice the difference...so with this argument the Vantage is a cheap car!
Don't get me wrong the 997 S is very much my cup of tea (I love 'em) but when I was getting rid of my 996 and the dealer wanted £35,000 and my 996 for the spec of a 997 S that I had chosen there is no way I could justify this for such a similar car. But when I had to justify £45,000 for my Aston over my 996, I had no trouble!
"We took a Porsche Carrera S and a V8 Vantage to the Brecon Beacons in Wales to put them through their paces and assess them back-to-back, thinking this would produce a clear winner. It didn’t."
What's the point of taking them to Wales? Might as well see how they cope with Marylebone Road on a Friday evening.
