Hello There!

I am in the process of purchasing a V8 in North America and looking for some help from current owners on sharing their knowledge & experience with me on actual costs of running this car. (Insurance & Winter storage I got figured out already)

First let me give you some parameters of what I plan to do with this car:
# This car will be a secondary car.
# Mostly in good weather, Approx 5000 to 6000 km each year.
# Don't plan on any track days, mostly will be a city to Hwy driving.
# Also I do take good care of my cars

So here goes, from all my research, I understand the first service is free at 1000 to 1500km. But what comes after this?

1) What is the next service that is required: either in time or mileage?
2) What kind of costs could I expect for this service, please use you local currency
3) When do belts and major fluids need to be changed next?
4) Best guess on when brakes will need to be looked at ?
5) What else can I expect??

I was also very concerned about overall reliability of the cars. From many of the posts that I've read, it seems that early generation cars suffered from all kinds of issues. Which I suppose is to be expected with every new production car. Are the mid 06 to 07, better build with less problems??

Any imput would be greatly appreciated. This will be my first car that I've spend over $50,000 US and it's a lot of money and I'm super paranoid, until I learn as much as I can about this car.

Look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

First service (free) at 1000 miles
Service intervals 1 year or 10,000 miles thereafter
In the UK yearly services cost about £600
Not sure on belts and fluids - watch this space!
Brakes - all depends how you drive

Reliability on early cars was patchy... things are MUCH better now. Most of us in here have only had minor problems.

Have fun!

Steve
