hiya, il appologise now for my poor typing and grammar as i type very fast lol

took delivery of my used AM V8 on friday its a 55 plate dec 05 with 4000 k

i have owned a few sports cars and would like to give my comments,.

the car i put in p/ex was a bmw m6 i had it 4 weeks and to be honest i didnt like it ! yes it was fast in a straight line, the gearbox wasnt to my liking couldnt get away with it at all, i didnt really like the looks of the car and i think it is a very expensive car for the money ( even at secon hand price early 60 k ) however the car is superbly built and im sure to some it will be a fantastic car.

i have owned in my time aprox 20 versions of pork 911 inc a 997 s and to be honest they are probably the best all round sports car today! however they now are very common and hence the resale will be poor ( that how i managed 20 the depreciation was so low it cost almost nowt to change, back in the late 90 s) and the local dealer attitude is not good!

i also own a r rover sport diesel and Ferrari 360 modena
so im reasonably well qualified to comment

so my impressions so far!

well i love it, it drives fab and is plenty quick enough! its cabin is comfortable and well made and the sound is lovelly! it does create attention ( not as much as a red 360 mind) and i have a lot of questions form men ( seems astons are fellas fav sports cars )

only fault is the steering feels a little loose and slightly clunky but my dealer will sort that i hope.

so would i swap it back for a 997 s ?? no chance pork is a fab car but it just dosnt do it for me anymore!

ps how can pork owners say the aston need more bhp the c2s only had 350 !

anyway thats my comments to date i would appreciate yours

cheers Tim

If you've had a 997S I'm suprised that you're suprised when former Porsche owners say the V8 needs more power. IMO Porsche bhp alway make other marque's bhp seem a bit 'semi skimmed'. Look at the 997S's performance figs. against cars with substantially more bhp. But you know this yourself - you've had one. Oh, and ref. the steering - your dealer may be able to improve it a bit but basically 'they all feel like sir'.

thanks for your comments

are you a pork fan?

what models do u have or have had!

to be honest as i have stated i like the porsche but they are not exclusive enough for almost 80 k however pound for pound probably still the best allround car.

I appreciate Porsche for their enginering, build and performance. Some of my best mates on here have them, but every Tom Dick and Harry has one in The City, so they are not my desired form of chariot. Always been a bit of an Aston man

I have much the same thoughts as you Tim and followed similar paths re: red 360 and Porsche 911`s right back to a 1972 911E. I have kept my 996tt however and have used it solidly for two weeks now , leaving the AM garaged . Early next year one of them must go , I first decided that to keep the V8 but I now realise I cannot be without the tt, it is just so accomplished and special , devastating quick and a hoot in the wet. Can the same be said for the AMV8V

(The TT is common agreed but not yet in darkest Suffolk and do I really, really care anyway ) . ?

Porkers are benchmarks for people who know F A about cars and just want to look flash. Same with Ferraris.

Both are bought by proper petrolheads as well, but Astons and TVRs are purely enthusiasts cars. yes

Plus Porsches are soulless

Agree with Mikial, I have always been a porker fan, most recently with a 996 Turbo X50. P/xed it in for the Vantage and although I love the special feeling of the Aston I do still miss the fun that I could have in the 996. Having said that the Aston is just beautiful to behold, sounds great (also done fuse 22) and a pleasure to drive. Just very different cars. For that reason I swap between the Aston and my 430 to max the enjoyment of both.

Fuse 22, a quick fix for leaving the exhaust valves open.
AML won't endorse it as they are unsure if it will have any detremental effect on the car. Easier to get you friendly dealersjip to open them up permanently.
So instead of Armageddon at 4300rpm it's at 1200 rpm
SAves driving around everywhere in second gear

a must yes

Shady, did you have yours removed at PistonFest? Cos I heard a VERY loud noise about 3 mins before I saw your car, and that would explain a LOT! hehe

I think the side effect excuse is just a warranty get out clause by AML, BUT if it's done permanently there's no issue.

You've obviously never vacationed in Cheadle, Cheshire.
