Hey all, I took a V12 Vantage Coupe out for a drive today (AM RG one in Stratstone Birmingham) ... very impressed.

Definitely changing the Porsche (996TT) and after today think I shall be going the DB7 route, having not been impressed by Maserati yesterday. (Whole idea of changing to something more sensible (baby due XMAS) ... has gone out the window).

I have read through the AM forums going back last 6 months, read through the chiltern buying guides etc, to get as much info as possible before doing anything impulsive. However .... still have a few questions and would really appreciate any of you guys sharing your knowledge and personal experiences.
I will be going for a V12 Vantage - just prefer the look, the engine, the int etc. Will be spending circa 40-45k (maybe a little more for 'THE RIGHT ONE')

Questions I have are as follows:

Handling between Vantage Volante & Coupe? Much difference?
(Please only comment if you have driven both)
Will be kept in garage, but how hard wearing are the hoods?, do they ever leak? (and can they be easily replaced?)

I see from former threads that some PH's prefer the manual gearbox (not restricted etc) but what is the general consesus over the options?
And are all Autos, Tiptronic (Some pics I have seen do not seem to have the +/- buttons on the wheel?)

Colours: I fully understand that colour is a personal thing, always will be.
The car I drove today was 'Aston Martin Racing Green' and just thought I would ask how this will re-sell upon movng on.
Silvers and Blues are (I guess) most popular, but what about the greens (there are so many) - any to really avoid?
Never considered owning a green car, but it really suits the DB7.

Cars I have an eye on after a few days of searching are:

2000 Mendip Blue Volante at ELMS @ £42k, with 24k miles
1999 AM Racing Green Volante at Kensington @ £43k, with 43k miles
2001 Chiltern Green Volante at Stratstone @ £48k, with 14k miles
2000 AM Racing Green Volante at Henley @ £40k, with 48k miles
2001 Black Volante at Carringtons @ £47.5k, with 11k miles

2000 Mendip Blue Coupe at Jade @ £40k, with 26k miles
2001 Chiltern Green Coupe at Hollingworth @ £43k with 19k miles
2002 Solent Silver Coupe at Autostrasse @ £44 , with 24k miles
2001 AM Racing Green Coupe at Stratstone @ £45k, with 26k miles

Anyone know any of these cars?

Thanks in advance

Aston Green is a very good colour,it looks great and i think it should sell well

If you haven't read about this already watch out for the air conditioning, if it doesn't work properly it may cost upward of 3k to fix as the whole dash has to come out.

Uneven tyre wear, more common with the 3.2 rather than the 5.9 V12, but have a close look anyway.

If possible look at a DB7 GT, they are about £55k now and its so much better than a Vantage. Not sure if your budget can stretch that far but it might be worth a look.

best of luck with your choice of DB7, brilliant cars.
