I seem to be plagued with brake light switch prblems on my '71 DBSV8...it's the fluid pressure type that screws into a brake line adaptor at the front of the engine bay. Has anyone had this too? I don't see why such a simple device should be so problematic? Or could something else be causing the problem?

Hi mate - not sure if this is helpful, but I replaced all BF with DOT 5.1 on my V8OI and they topped off the res and discovered the switch was dodgy. Then they also checked the handbrake tension etc and discovered that switch (tells you handbrake is on) was also dodgy. All fixed now.

Just pay attention that you don't mix DOT 5.1 with DOT 5. You can mix DOT 4 with DOT 5.1 though.

Good call. draining the whole system is a good idea.
