DB7 V12 Sports Exhaust (Supply)
Discussion
Silly question but i have found my V12 Vantage fairly quiet after my Griffiths even with the roof down. Are the sports exhausts that much louder,do you need to retune the engine and is it just the rear boxes replaced or is it the whole system.Any ideas where to get them and how much.Ps Is it me or are these things bloody expensive to maintain.Small sump plug oil leak turned into a £1200 bill.(All done under warranty luckily)Any other advice gratefully accepted Thanks
Have a look at Larini (www.larinisystems.com) for DB7 Vantage centre and rear section replacements. The Larini centre section to me looks identical to the one I had fitted to my car by Chiltern Aston over a year ago, and something very similar was also being offered on eBay a while back. The sound from the new centre section is a million percent better than the standard exhaust, which just makes the V12 sound whirry and busy.
I'm being delivered my 1st Aston tomorrow!
Quite a moment! I'm like a ****** kid at Christmas- wont be able to sleep tonight!
re sports exhausts...
I set out to get a DB7 with a sports exhaust, but in the end, as I'm sure is so often the case, ended up falling in love with a low mileage (20,000mile) 2001 Vantage coupe in Grigio Titanio, but without sports exhaust.
I test drove a few before hand, including my new toy, and having come from a chain of 4 TVR's back to back (all with sports exhausts) always felt the fabulous looks and powered Aston was always let down by the lack of noise from the tail end!
I managed to wangle a sports exhaust to be fitted to my new pride and joy as part of the deal on this one (1000 thanks to Nick Josey of BBO sports cars!) and have had a Quicksilver system with 3.5inch 'big-bore' pipes fitted.
I will post after tomorrow to let you know what its like.....
Retail- this is £800 without the £250 tail pipies, but is way lower than the £2000 new Aston OEM part quoted to me by Chiltern.(they quoted me £800plus vat for a USED A/M system!)

Gone and done it.Car at Chiltern getting sports exhaust for £780 plus vat.I have retained rear boxes to A retain original look and not look like a ford fiesta with 2 baked bean cans attached at the rear B it will be far too loud with the full exhaust system and C it was over £300 cheaper.Chiltern will pick up and deliver free of charge as well.Am retaining original exhaust in case it pees the neighbours off.
Got it done and back. Both myself and neighbours pleased i kept original rear boxes as it is very loud.Excellent service from the boys at Chiltern Aston and would definately use them again if my wife forces to put the old exhaust back on.Which reminds me,Steve if you are reading this could you please send me back my old system just in case.
