Shape of things to come - a.k.a. prices of V8 Vantages
Discussion
I dont know if that price is indicative of Vantage prices, that does seem like a "perfect" example in concours condition so will probably command a premium over a VGC one. How much though is the question!!
I 've seen decent enough examples around the £40k mark, with Volantes around £60k for reasonable looking one with really really nice ones and P.O.W up to the 80-100k ish mark.
120k? Seems a bit high to me.

120K is very high- you could buy a twin-blower Vantage for that price. Mind you, the vantage in the article looks very nice, and I am intrigued by the 12 month warranty- these cars need to br driven, otherwise they will deteriorate
Vantages are more and more in demand as years go by. I think that if you wanted a "perfect" car you would have to look very far indeed and should you buy one at 40k as previously mentioned you would be in for something very far from perfect. Should you buy the 40k one with a view to restoring it to "Perfect" you could easily spend 80k with RSW or Works Service - hence I think that 120k is not too outrageous to the right person. (my only surprise is that it is a 1984 car - i would have thought someone would have spent the money on an x-pack car)
Also, one point to look at with the rise of Vantage prices is what an icon car it was in 1980's Britain. We are now 20+ years on the the young chaps with the posters on the wall are now in a position to purchase their dream.
I am amazed...considering it is not the last of the line,,,but a very nice example none the less. I would have thought the price toppish around the £80k level.
Having said that Bramley also have this;

a later x-pack volante with less miles for slightly less money......Why is the '84 car so apparently expensive?? What is it I fail to comprehend here???

Well, the skirted volantes are, shall we say, something of an acquired taste... and that red interior is a trifle sudden.

Ah it's one of those Vantages. The owner buys a few bits from Puddleducks, bolts on a Vantage spoiler, adds some later electric mirrors, a cheap leather kit to spruce up the interior and a set of tacky wheels and voila...it's a Vantage in his mind. All he needs now is Saint Victor Gauntlet to come down and ordain it and it's a Vantage. Shame it never left the factory as one, build sheet just shows it to be an automatic saloon. In the trade these cars are becoming known as Puddleduck specials! Can't wait to see what is done to it next, a nice set of lambswool dice hanging from the rear view mirror would go down a treat.
Roo - I think you will find that that particular Saint had two "t's" at the end of his name.
Although I dont agree with the strength of the attack, I do agree with the sentiment. Whatever the bit of kit, we all have a common love of the "toys" - something that can create heated debates when it involves misrepresentation.

"Sounds like wishful thinking aston67"
It well may be. However true good Vantages are rarer to find.
When I bought my VV in 2003 one could see low mileage V8 Vantages coupes around £45 - £50 at dealers. Not any longer.
An Aston is an Aston is an Aston.
No question about this. They are all beautiful cars as long as they are well cared and driven
And of course the V8 Vantage Volante is the best Aston ever
This is my personal and subjective opinion and I make no apology for that. Just made a 400 mile trip around the Cotswolds with the hood down to admire this fantastic area of England. Sun was shining, the V8 engine soundtrack was spectacular, traffic decent (well sort of) ...
The Vantage Volante offers Vantage power with the pleasure of "al fresco" driving, things a normal Vantage owner CANNOT have unless they put all their windows down or use a tin can opener on the roof
And it looks still good... I got compliments from 2 women and 1 person at a BP petrol station in less than 5 minutes without considering the double takes of bikers, motorists and children
Get the one in red, respray in the colour of your choice and have fun!
And consider that the Vantage Volante fetched more money than the P.o.W. and the normal Vantage at last year Bonhams' auction

Ahh, thanks there little fella. Wanna race?
Judging by the amount of smoke your car was blowing out its exhaust at the AMOC barn, I doubt we'll even see you! I've yet to see a DBSV8 that can keep up with a V8 Vantage, I doubt yours will be any different. How about you start in the next county and we'll wait for you at the finish.
Careful with any wagers gents.
This one will murder the lot of them!

Jeez Dazza, you've let the cat out of the bag. My normal vantages would have taken them easily, the Zag mule would have spit them out its exhaust. Now they'll hide and not come out to play. Luckily the cars are in Australia and the USA at the moment, gives them some time to get something faster to drive.
Wouldn't want you to damage your car any more Jock, you still have the nose to fix. You may also want to fix the brakes and get a decent set of wheels, not sure the Puddleduck specials will hold up in a race....pardon me I take that back, you'll be going so slow it wont hurt them at all!
