Aston Martin Volumes and Future direction of the Vantage
Discussion
I know this topic has been discussed before, however this information was too good not to share. It came from two independent workers at the Gaydon facility whom I met at a wedding fair yesterday.
Manufacturing output for all AM facilities for the last 12 months 6,900 units (appx 250 Vanquish, and even split between the DB9 coupe and volante and AMV8
Still no confirmation of a supercharged Vantage, however they have been testing with a V12 shoehorned in the Vantage. I these guys are to be believed, this will be released next year.
Personally I cannot see it myself, as the DB9 and Vantage would compete with eachother, however a V12 would be nice in that car and would certainly resolve the power issue

V12 narrr!....that would kill the 50:50 weight distribution, thus spoil the feel of the car..what a smoothe V12 get a '9, want a V8 racer get a Vantage....
dont worry about the weight. In keeping with Astons proud tradition, any performance enhancement (called Vantage) will also come with a large weight penalty, to ensure the weight distrobution is the same!
MY dealer (with nobs on) (and before you forget , Charlie Skelton was the main man who supplied EVO with their long term test car) pause for breath, said they had a link with Rolls Royce who had fitted a V16 ( the V22 wouldn`t fit without bogey wheels ) Merlin supercharged but would have meant going back to worm and peg steering and the mpg was unacceptable too , so there ....

Not quite true: My mate, who knows the bloke down the pub WHO CLEANS THE DEALER CARS- (so if anyone, he should know) said its a V16, called the Vantage-Vantage, and avilable in Volante form (Vantage-Vantage Volante). The V16 will actually be 2 V8 engines, joined together (because the v12, apparently is 2 Mondeo V6 engines joined at the hip...).
The "S" version will have 6 wheels, for extra traction. Designed by the bloke who designed the still-born 6 wheeled Noble M14.5
(Or maybe, we should stop listening to hearsay and wait!)
