Afternoon

After a lot of pleading, begging, grovelling and the like, I've been offered a day walking round my local Aston Martin garage and also a ride in one of their cars.

Due to my age and lack of licence, I think they probably won't let me drive any of them, so what I need to know now is which car is the most thrilling to take a ride in?

I know it depends on the driver as well, so hopefully my chauffeur will be a good mix of immense driving skill and complete lunacy.

Please bear in mind that I've never been in any Aston Martin, so whatever I choose I'll have a fantastic experience.

Or are they all so similar I should just go for the one I'd most like to be seen in?

Thanks a lot,

Lucien

The Vanquish is the top of the range, so that might affect your decision. Of the others, the Vantage is the more sporty ride.

Thanks for your replies. I was considering the Vanquish, due to it being the most expensive, and because I hardly ever see them. I've only seen a couple of V8s, mind, and none of them were on the road.

My favourite is probably the DB9, just because I think it's the prettiest.

I think I'll go for the Vanquish.

Does it make the best noise? That's also an important factor.

Didn't think so. The Vantage is gorgeous, but I wanna try a V12. I've already been transported by a V8 in a Series 3 Land Rover, and a V12 is the next step, seeing as only weirdos have V10s.

I'm going for the Vanquish. Especially if they have an S. I've been swayed by this picture:

Love that shade for Aston Martin along with the green they used to race in, if I`d specified mine from new would I have had the gonads to go for either, or play safe with grey/silver/ black.?

Wotcher, James!

I probably have got your mail, but I can't get to gmail again.

Yup, decided it's gonna be a Vanquish. Especially if they have an S...

One thing you must ask to be shown is the Vanquish S under max acceleration and the noise of the gear change. Truely fantastic and unforgettable! You will need a lot of road or pref. an entry slip road on to a motorway.

Had an AM test day at Millbrook last week and got to drive the AMV8/DB9 around the alpine course and also to floor them down the mile straight. Managed 141mph in the V8, 158 in the DB9 and was shown the Vanq.S at 160mph around 'the bowl' and 160+ down the straight.

We also did some emmergency braking from 100+ mph, these cars are truely superb!

Enjoy.

Vanquish. The DB9 is a bit of a lounge lizard, the Vantage is only pretending to be a Vantage, just leaves the Vanquish really and if you can...the S. The torque wall is great fun to feel the shove...like a Supercharged lightweight car, but it makes it even more fun when something that *solid* gets thrown down the road and at corners. A very special motor.

Look, I have never owned an Aston. I have driven a DB5. I was a wannabe member of the Aston Martin Owners Club. I am absolutely unqualified to answer your question. I would however say that the V8 is clearly a lot less powerful than a V12. Better with a new XKR? The Vanquish I'm sure is great but is an older model bit lioke Bianca Jagger. The iconic Aston just now has to be the V12 engined DB9. After the next Bond film there will not be any doubt in your mind. I'm just letting you know in advance.
