We know that the AMV8 currently has a production capacity of about 3000 units worldwide, this will include volante for next year, so the number of coupes will be further reduced. We also know that even at these low volumes the speculators had an effect on V8 residuals this year, although supply & demand seem to be levelling out now (he says hopefully!)this is the key to good residuals, which I think are crucial to Aston establishing itself in the higher volume V8 market!
But I was interested to note in this months Porsche & 911 World that Porsche will produce 6000 997 Turbo's this financial year....blimey that puts things into perspective!

"We know that V8 Vantage has a production capacity of 3000" hang on a sec, I think we know that AML say they are making around 3000 pa I dont think they have ever directly stated that this is the capacity rather than the target. I would suggest that no manufacturing line in the car industry runs at 100% capacity for many many reasons. I would suggest that they have the ability to do a good few more V8 Vantages per year. More to do with brand exclusivity and market share limiting the business plan

I haven't got a direct plug into Gaydon, but the Dealer Principal of my Aston garage said... "due to the fact that they are putting the AMV8 bodies together at Gaydon, they currently have an absolute capacity of 3000 units a year including any V8 Volantes". Now I agree they can always expand & build or lease further premises & man power, but he clearly said this was their current capacity because I queried it!
I hope they don't expand beyond this, as rediduals on high end cars are very sensitive & with all models adding up to over 5000 units Aston are now at Ferrari levels of production!
The other point I was making is Porsche are building twice as many Turbos alone than AMV8's let alone all the other 911 variants!

Grant3 - absolutely agree with what you say and sorry to question your source. However, I cant imagine how a Dealer Principal thinks he would know much about a manufacturers true production capacity and core strategy.
Anyway, it is very interesting about how many 911 Turbos are being made this year. However one sees the Porsche Strategy (especially with shifting that many turbos) , by god they know how to make money!

Porsche are substantially cutting supply of 911s to the UK due to increasing demand from far east markets and the dealer told me that Porache will not increase production any further for fear of market saturation. Col.
Where do you get this kind of stuff?
They are INCREASING the production of 911's
FACT.

Porsche Guildford - one of 4 dealerships owned by Porsche itself in the UK. This is what they have been told by Germany. My comments relate to UK allocation, but was not aware of worldwise increase, but interesting to note.
Roar,
I remain completely unconvinced that Porsche are cutting UK 911 allocations (I wish they were). I don't disbelieve that Guildford told you this but I don't accept it for a second.
